Reflection:Tradition Rant. Thread
Why does the past matter so much to us? It seems as if humanity is constantly being governed by past events and memories.

Do we hold onto beliefs and ideas from those before us, because its safe? Because the highest respect that we can pay those before us is to remember, to immortalize them through our books, our songs, our art.

We just don't hold onto the good, but also the bad. The hatred. Some people hate things because they were told that they should, because their parents hated it, and their parents parents.

Some people hold onto old traditions, even when they no longer fit into their lives.

Why?

I think its because the past is who we are. The past shapes our culture and actions. But what would happen if we chose to let go? To move on and stop being governed by memories that hurt us, that make us angry.

Look at nature, how the seasons live outside of each other. Spring grows beautiful flowers just to have Winter destroy them, and yet the process repeats, spring moves on growing flowers holding no animosity towards winter.

Generations should be like the seasons, we should all be our own people, respecting and acknowledging those before us and traditions but knowing that its OK to be individuals.

If or when I have kids someday, I want them to know its OK to have a dream for themselves opposite of what I may have for them. I'd provide them with all the tools they need growing up to make their own decisions once they were to become adults, proper education being number one. I want to be a guide, not a dictator. But discipline would be important just because I believe that a parent's responsibility is to be a guide to their children doesn't mean that I'd let my kids run wild.

I want to make sure that if/when I have kids someday they know that nothing is impossible, that as long as they have ambition possibilities are endless. If they want to go into politics, why not? Play sports why not?

If they wanted to go into the arts, or become doctors and lawyers It doesn't matter I'd support them either way.

I'd surround them with books and let them know the various options that are possible.

There's a certain light that children have that gets lost as we become adults, that strong belief that anything is possible. Remember when you were a kid, what dream did you have? To be an astronaut? To be like superman? To be a pop star, or actress?

Where is a that child like ambition and refusal to believe in the word 'impossible'? No matter what your economic status, work hard and nothing can stop you. No matter your educational background, knowledge doesn't know age, gender, or financial boundaries, there is always a way to learn if your desire is there.

Don't be labeled by the past. You are not just this or that. You are your own person, your own season.

*sigh* Relatives. Thread
My father's side of the family came to visit today, and my sister and I stealthily sneaked out the back door. We stayed gone as long as we could. My sister wanted to get a hotel room, but I convinced her to come back and see our aunt. I said hello but my sister still remains outside hiding in the car.

Why is she so stubborn? My brother didn't complain.

I think its because my father and his side of the family have high expectations for certain things, and meeting some of them is like inspection time. And anything not as it should be gets to the whole family through the mega gossip line. And some of them are a tad bit blunt.

Though...

Its nice seeing them again, I glade I didn't let my sister talk me into getting a hotel room with her.

My sister fails to realize that family members should be appreciated, love them while you can.

I remember my grandmother (bless her soul) would always ask me if I was married yet and when I was getting married, when I was in my early teens. She was very old-fashioned, I remembered when my cousin cursed in front of her and she made him get a bar of soap and wash his mouth out. I can still picture him scrubbing his tongue with soap and water Lol.

Its really interesting how different sides of the family can be. My mother's side of the family are completely different from my father's. When I was a child I always tried to imagine what a joint family reunion would be like. I can't see it happening, but if it ever did I'd go with a camcorder and a regular camera with lots of film.

My parents meeting each other and falling in love when they come from two very different places just makes the belief of soul-mates even more concrete in my mind.
They balance each other and its nice.

Seasons Thread
What's your favorite season? And if there was a way to get rid of all the other seasons and have 365 days of your favorite season would you?

Personally though I love autumn, (even though I was born in winter) but I'm glade that there's spring, summer and winter. Going through each season makes finally reaching fall that much sweeter.

Plus there's the fruit aspect. Fruit taste better when its grown in season, if it was autumn all the time then watermelon grown under artificial light wouldn't be as sweet as summer watermelons grown outdoors bathed in hot summer weather nurtured by nature.

Autumn is like a favorite dessert, its sweet, delicious but you wouldn't want to have it all of the time.

Variety is the spice of life.

And every season has a person on this planet who loves it. Be it the beach goer who loves surfing on summer days, the child that loves making snowman in winter, the florist who loves the beauty of blossoming flowers in spring. There's a season for everyone...and mine will come again.

Attraction Thread
When you're out somewhere and there's that one person that catches your eye. I can't help but wonder why? Why out of all the men In the world, in my city did it have to be him?

Why does he stand out in a crowd to me? I like every single aspect of his physical appearance (what I've seen) from his dark hair, his dark eyes to his habit of always dressing in one specific color. I've talked to him on numerous occasions, and I even like his voice!

I think he's beautiful, I'm not even sure if its OK to call a guy beautiful lol. But if you were to see him you would know what I mean. He has an artistic quality to him. He reminds me of Autumn. I love art and he's like art personified, kind of like a walking painting.

When I sit next to him I feel really calm, and comfortable, even when he had scooted closer to me so our knees almost touched.

I want to date him, but I'm not sure if he has a girlfriend or not. And I won't go against my golden rule:'Don't go after guys who are taken.'

He's smart, has slightly dark humor...Maybe I shouldn't get too descriptive online.

But I don't know enough about his personality, because everyone knows that there's two sides to people the side they want the world to see them as and the side that they really are.

He's really secretive though... but maybe that's why I'm intrigued. He's an enigma, he can't be categorized as this way or another he's unique.

I think I'm lead by the promise of discovery.

Yum. Thread
Have you ever tasted something so delicious that you wished you could share it with everyone in the world, so they could share in the paradise that your taste-buds have reached?

Coffee+Nutmeg+Vanilla Soy Cream (Served hot or cold) = Absolute tongue paradise.

-Blended above ingredients with ice.
-Or prepare hot coffee and add Nutmeg and Vanilla Soy Cream.

Do you know how long it has taken me to blend the above ingredients in the perfect ratio? T_T.

Either it was too strong, too sweet etc.
But I finally perfected it! T_T *Tears of joy*

Hello! Its been awhile. Thread
Wow I haven't posted in awhile! I've just been really busy.

This year has been really... "wow" so far.

Its interesting how much a person can change in half a year. I'm still the same person, but I have learned so many new things. Met some really interesting people. I've matured. And by maturing I've become a more dedicated, driven person. Before I use to have a goal, and have so many doubts in my head, like: "Will this go right?" "Is this acceptable?" and those questions and doubts would make me feel stressed and down.

The doubts are still there sometimes but unlike before the drive, and desire to achieve what I want is stronger.

I've learned to manage stress better.

And if and when things get overwhelming and I feel really down. I think that "I'm stronger than this." "I'm not weak." "I'm not a failure."

I think the number one factor of stress and sadness is a persons belief in themselves. If you're constantly thinking the worst or putting yourself down, how can you achieve anything?

Positive thinking is important! Remember that you're your number one cheering squad! Lol. ^_^.

No matter how crazy, grand, or out there your dream may be, remember the first obstacle is self doubt.

A perfect day Thread
About two days ago I had a perfect day. It began really normal at first but then It got really weird like someone wrote the day to a script weird.I woke up had a really great hair day. Birds were chirping, the sky had wonderful puffy white clouds,it was a little windy, and I was well rested. Everyone I ran into seemed to be having a good day also.
I didn't have any homework or assignments that had to be done. And I kept getting random compliments.I'm pretty sure on that day I was about one second from skipping down the street and bursting out into jolly song lol.

(Lol wouldn't that be funny if you were walking down the street and everyone around you just started dancing and singing.)

Drunken Business Conversations Thread
I don't drink liquor and I don't plan on drinking the stuff, especially after just witnessing what I just witnessed Lol.

Well one person was drunk and the other person sober.

I watched the drunken person (who I won't name,in an effort to save their dignity.I won't even say their relation to me.) who had downed a large amount, talk to someone they did business with previously and immediately began acting like they weren't previously dancing around and singing. I was just amazed at how fast this person snapped into business mode from drunken stupor in 6,8 seconds flat.

If you knew this person closely you would also be shocked maybe even to the point of choking if you were eating something.

This song = My Type Lol Thread
Ijust really like this song I think it's sweet. To me it kind of sums up the type of guy I like (I know weird huh?). I like someone who is passionate about their beliefs, whose head is full of ideas, and who isn't easy to figure out. Someone who has this determined yet calm energy about them but when you get to know them you learn there's more to them than that.

Someone who has their own beliefs about things, not what they're told they should believe.Someone who isn't afraid to question things.

Someone that I could discuss things with deeply, and see his point of views on things and compare them to my own.

Lol once you read the lyrics below you'll probably wonder how I got all of that from those lyrics.

I think when it comes to lyrics there's different interpretations for different people...

Daydreamer, sitting on the seat
Soaking up the sun he is a real lover,
Making up the past
And feeling up his girl like he's never felt her figure before

A jaw dropper
Looks good when he when he walks,
He is the subject of their talk
He would be hard to chase,
But good to catch
And he could change the world with his hands behind his back,
Oh

You can find him sitting on your doorstep
Waiting for the surprise
It will feel like he's been there for hours
And you can tell that he'll be there for life

Daydreamer, with eyes that make you melt
He lends his coat for shelter *plus* he's there for you when he shouldn't be
But he stays all the same, waits for you, then sees you through
There's no way I could describe him
All I say is, just what I'm hoping for

But I will find him sitting on my doorstep
Waiting for the surprise
It will feel like he's been there for hours
And I can tell that he'll be there for life
You can tell he'll be there for life
