2013 Sports Star of the Year
On January 25th at the 78th annual MTR Western Sports Star of the Year Banquet; The Sports Star Committee chose Lenny Wilkens to be the recipient of The Paul Allen Award for his charity work.
The Paul Allen Award is given to an individual who has made a significant or compelling contribution to the local community. Former Sonics player and NBA championship coach Lenny Wilkens’ foundation has given more than $3 million in the past decade to provide health care and education for Seattle-area children.

Forty years ago, Lenny and Marilyn Wilkens walked into a clinic in the Central District of Seattle and discovered a place where children could receive quality medical care regardless of their ability to pay. That day, they knew that making sure all families in our community have access to basic healthcare and education would become their family’s mission.
