日本(にほん)にはお客様(きゃくさま)に最善(さいぜん)のサービスをするという意味(いみ)で「おもてなし」という言葉(ことば)があります。来(き)ていただいたお客(きゃく)さまに心(こころ)からリラックスして楽(たの)しめる時間(じかん)を過(す)ごしていただくことがこの「おもてなし」と言(い)う意味(いみ)なのです。

「おもてなし」とはどういうことを言(い)うのでしょうか。わざとらしい態度(たいど)でお客様(きゃくさま)に対応(たいおう)する、あたかもサービスしていますよという態度(たいど)は「おもてなし」とは言(い)えません。相手(あいて)が自然(しぜん)に感(かん)じる環境(かんきょう)を作(つく)ることが大切(たいせつ)です。また、「おもてなし」はサービスする側(がわ)の個人(こじん)の対応(たいおう)でもありますが、会社(かいしゃ)としての取(と)り組(く)みも大切(たいせつ)です。

ただ、「おもてなし」のすべてをマニュアルに書(か)き出(だ)すことは不可能(ふかのう)ですし、「おもてなし」はお客様(きゃくさま)の見(み)えるところだけでするものではありません。たとえばホテルなどで隅々(すみずみ)まできれいに掃除(そうじ)されていることなども「おもてなし」なのです。

日本(にほん)にはチップという制度(せいど)がありません。ですから「おもてなし」をしたからといって収入(しゅうにゅう)が増(ふ)えるわけではないのです。「おもてなし」とは、次(つぎ)もお客様(きゃくさま)に来(き)ていただける環境(かんきょう)を作(つく)ることなのです。

Omotenashi


In Japan, there is the word "Omotenashi" used to describe giving the best possible service to customers. “Omotenashi" is to make your guests feel relaxed and enjoy their time with you.

What does "Omotenashi" mean? First of all, it is important to respond to customers with a deliberate attitude. It is not "Omotenashi" to act as if you are providing a service. It is important to create an environment where the other person feels it naturally. “Omotenashi” is not only about the individual who provides the service, but it is also about the company as a whole.

However, it is impossible to write down all of the aspects of hospitality in a manual, and hospitality is not just about what the customer sees. For example, when a hotel is cleaned to the nth degree, it is also a form of hospitality.

In Japan, there is no such thing as a tipping system, so it does not mean that you will earn more money by showing hospitality. “Omotenashi” is about creating an environment that makes it easy for customers to come back the next time.

日本人(にほんじん)はよく血液型(けつえきがた)の話(はなし)をします。皆(みな)さんはご自分(じぶん)の血液型(けつえきがた)を知(し)っていますか。知(し)らない人(ひと)も多(おお)いと思(おも)います。また知(し)っていてもそれはあくまでも輸血(ゆけつ)の時(とき)に必要(ひつよう)だからかと思(おも)います。でも日本(にほん)では人(ひと)の性格(せいかく)を語(かた)るときに血液型(けつえきがた)を使(つか)います。これは、日本(にほん)が島国(しまぐに)であり、ほとんどの人(ひと)が日本人(にほんじん)ということで、血液型以外(けつえきがたいがい)でとくに分類(ぶんるい)ができないからなのかもしれません。

また、血液型(けつえきがた)はどの血液型(けつえきがた)が上(うえ)だとか下(した)だという差別(さべつ)の対象(たいしょう)にはなりません。日本人(にほんじん)の血液型分布(けつえきがたぶんぷ)は、O型(がた)32%、A型(がた)37%、B型(がた)22%、AB型(がた)9%でA型(がた)が一番多(いちばんおお)くAB型(がた)が一番少(いちばんすく)なくなっています。どの血液型(けつえきがた)がどのような性格(せいかく)なのかという内容(ないよう)に関(かん)しては、皆(みな)さん日本(にほん)の方(かた)と会(あ)われた時(とき)に聞(き)いてみてください。話(はなし)が弾(はず)むと思(おも)います。

ただ、その話(はなし)をする時(とき)は自分(じぶん)の血液型(けつえきがた)を知(し)っていることが大切(たいせつ)です。

Blood Types

Japanese people often talk about their blood type. Do you know your blood type? I don’t think many people do. Even if you do, it is usually only for blood transfusions. In Japan, we use blood type when discussing a person's personality. This may be because Japan is an island nation and most of the people are Japanese. For this reason, there is no particular classification other than blood type.

Also, blood type is not an object of discrimination as to which blood type is higher or lower. The distribution of blood types in Japan is 32% O, 37% A, 22% B, and 9% AB. A being the most common and AB is the least common. When you meet Japanese people, please ask them about their blood types and what kind of personality they have. I'm sure you'll have a great conversation.

However, it is important to know your blood type if you are going to discuss it.
