About Porsche 911 (996)

thread
About Porsche 911 (996)
I learned three things about my Porsche 911 (996) today.

(1) There is a button where usually a bonnet release to raise and lower the rear spoiler.

(2) 1999 Porsche 911 (996) uses 10q of Mobil 1 0w40 oil and you need to constantly monitor oil level.

(3) You need to press dow clutch pedal to the floor when you start your engine or it does not clank.

I learn this from the service guy at Barrier Porsche. No charge.

POP is old.

thread
If you are sell using POP as your email service, stop. IMAP is faster, lighter and easier to manage. Even if your email software crashes, your email is intact.

Question you should be asking is how do you migrate to IMAP from POP. Don't just delete the POP account and move to IMAP. You will loose all email in your computer.

If you move to our email hosting service with IMAP. we will help you migrate to IMAP.

The Middle East Conflict

thread
Bad guys took women, children and elders hostage and start shooting good guys hiding behind the hostages. Good guys told hostages to get out of the way or they get shot. Hostages could not get out of their way because bad guys will kill them if they move. So, the hostages are staying put. And bad guys keep shooting at good guys.

Fearing for their lives and people around them, good guys start shooting in between the hostages but sometimes (actually often) hostages are shot and killed. But good guys intention is not to harm any hostage.

Is this action justified?

No, I don't think so. So, is that mean good guys are bad now? That is "No" either. The true bad guys are the bad guys using hostage as a human shields.

So, what is the solution?

Good guys must create trusting relation ship with hostages. Protect them instead of going through them to get to bad guys.

Can that be done?

I don't know and it might be too late. Do not treat hostages as a part of bad guys, but treat them as they are "hostages". Killing hostages is very hard sell to any western world.

Technically Speaking … SEX SELLS

thread
Technically Spe... Technically Spe... Technically Spe... Technically Spe... Technically Spe... Technically Spe...
Simply put, sex in advertising is the use of sexually provocative or erotic imagery (or sounds, suggestions and subliminal messages) that are specifically designed to arouse interest in a particular product, service or brand.

Typically, sex refers to beautiful women (and increasingly, handsome men) that are used to lure in a viewer, reader or listener, despite a tenuous a non-existent link to the brand being advertised.

It's been said that as human beings, we have a lizard or reptilian brain that responds to certain primal urges. Food is one. Sex and reproduction is definitely another. This underlying, pre-programmed disposition to respond to sexual imagery is so strong, it has been used for over 100 years in advertising.

Statistically speaking, since most Corporate IT related decisions are made by man, we should be using sexy lady to promote our services. I placed some of the advertisements that use SEX as ways to get attention. One thing for sure, non of the products advertised here have anything to do with SEX.

Unfortunately, what it proves is … Men has a lizard or reptilian brain.

How much are your web and...
How much are your web and email cost?

To run your company web site and email with your own domain name, how much do you spend on them? That's all depend on the number of employees and the size of your web site and type of servers and ISP …

Well, most business owners do not know how much they are spending. That is okay, that is not your business to know that, unless you are spending too much. So how much is too much? Can you spend too little?

I can tell you how much you will be spending with my company. Our service includes a domain name registration, a huge 10GB web space and POP3/IMAP email accounts for 10 people for $250 per year. That is little less than 60 cents a day for a domain, web and email for 10 people. You also get live tech support and web and email account transfer assistances.

15 Year Old Porsche

thread
15 Year Old Porsche
I took delivery of the car I bought on Monday today from Barrier Porsche just now. It took until today to get a new tire for this car (just one tire). When I went to pick it up, the car had all the used car paper stack on the window so the service person ask me to wait at the lobby while they prep. the car.

After about 15 minutes the car was read. I drove back to the office. The first thing I noticed was the gas was not full. Besides, not a one sales person came to say thank you. I guess they are so used to customer spending $100K, they forgot what they need to do if you are not spending that kind of money. Very sad and disappointed.

It is a good business lesson to me and my company. I don't want to forget to treat every customer like they are the only customer we have.

Mutual Business

thread
Do you know the Mutual Business is?

Simple way to explain what the Mutual Business is, I buy things from the people who buy from us. It is the way to create a mutually beneficial relation ship with the people you do business with.

We joined Seattle Executives Association (http://www.saettleexcs.org) to market our products to a member and their friends 10 years ago. We ended up buying more things from the members of the association. But also many of them became our customers. It is a very good mutually beneficial relationship.

We are always looking for new customers … but our goal also is to do business with our customers.

I learned Washington State extended no-sales-tax policy on Electric Car. On top of that, The Federal government provide $7,500 tax credit for an electric car when you buy one. Or you get $4,500 cash assist from the government when you lease.

So, for $45,000 car like this, You save $4,500 in sales tax and $7,500 tax credit. So it is like you are paying 37,500 for this car. Considering sales tax, it is same as buying $34,300 car.

I checked my FitBit … Although we play using golf carts, I walked over 12,000 steps, 18 floors and burned almost 3,500 Kcal. That is good.

Pres. Obama … Out of Touch

Pres. Obama … O... Pres. Obama … O...
President Obama is asking Congress for 3.7 billion dollars to take care of children crossing border in to the US. For fat this year about 40,000 children has crossed the border illegally.

I did a simple math. $3.7 billion divided by 40,000 equals to $92,500. President Obama wants $92,500 per child coming cross he border illegally. No wonder people do not want to stop this illegal trafficking. That is almost double the average household income of the US.

Who gets that money? What is wrong with our President?

Moving to SAN System

thread
Moving to SAN System
What is SAN?

It is an acronym for Storage Area Network.
Instead of having disk storage system (usually Hard Disk Drives), storages are kept in dedicated storage units and computers access those storage via high speed network.

We are in the process of retiring older servers with hard disks and moving all the services to SAN based system. This should make system more stage and easier to manage. It is a huge task and we are expecting this process to last for next few weeks.
