Raspberry PI Web Server Project

thread
Raspberry PI Web Server Proj... Raspberry PI Web Server Proj... Raspberry PI Web Server Proj... Raspberry PI Web Server Proj...
We are staring to build a web server using Raspberry PI one board computer. For the cost of less than $40 and the cost of Compact Flash Card, we have a working computer. The question is, can we build ultra low cost web server using Raspberry PI.

If we can and it provides good enough performance, we can com up with vert low cost dedicated server hosting using Raspberry PI. This is one of the many fun project that we try at PSPINC.

http://www.raspberrypi.org

What is Raspberry PI?

The Raspberry Pi is a credit-card sized computer that plugs into your TV and a keyboard. It is a capable little computer which can be used in electronics projects, and for many of the things that your desktop PC does, like spreadsheets, word-processing and games. It also plays high-definition video. We want to see it being used by kids all over the world to learn how computers work, how to manipulate the electronic world around them, and how to program.

Reselling Microsoft Office 365

thread
Reselling Microsoft Office 365

Many small business IT support Companies are starting to sell Microsoft Office 365 as an alternative to Microsoft Small Business Server running Microsoft Exchange. Office 365 starts at $5.00 per month per person.

How much do you make a month selling this?
Microsoft is not going to give you all the money they get. You are lucky if you get $1 a month. Are you making enough money or you are selling it because there is nothing else.

http://office.microsoft.com

Consider becoming PSPINC's business partner. You all receive recurring income you are looking for with better reseller and customer support than Microsoft. Give us a call and let us show you what we have for you. You will be surprised.

A New Sony Action Camera got smaller but still missing the target.

I am sure it is a good good camera but it still missing a very important feature. Think about it, this type of camera will bet beaten up, wet, dropped, go thru mud an so on. This camera does not look well protected. It should have a full casing like GoPro.

What SONY is doing is trying to become GoPro by doing the same type of marketing as GoPro. That will not work. Here are somethings SONY should think about.

- Object Tracking
- 4 K based image stabilization
- Wireless live broadcasting
- Camera locator
- Full stereo sound recording
- Full disposable casing (inexpensive)

What do you think?

But not everything is cheap in Japan especially restaurants at hotel is insane. I saw a poster of Trader Vic's restaurant selling steak dinner for 16,000 yen (about $145).

You just need to know where to go and what to eat. Because of the weaker Yen, it is avery good time to come to Japan.

No Tax Money Used Here
Japan has developed most comprehensive pubic transportation system in the world. You can actually travel pretty much everywhere without having a car.

The main train system was called Japan National Rail (JNR) and was wend by the government. In april 1, 1987, JNR was privatized and became Japan Rail (JR).

So, most of public transportation system, train, buses, airlines and taxies are not funded by the tax money. It is wonderful. I think the US should learn from that.

I flew Korean Air for the first time. It took over 11 hours from Seattle to Incheon, Korea. The plane was Boeing 777-200 and the seat configuration was not as nice as DELTA for being a business class. But flight was not full and I had nobody sitting next to me.

I watched many movies including Godzilla, X-Men, Captain America and Spider Man. 11 hours was long tome to kill. When I got to Incheon, I had to change the carrier from Korean to Asiana. First I had to find Asiana ticket counter to get my boarding pass. It was located at gate 29. Then I walked to gate 49 but it was change to gate 46. After sitting there for about 15 minuets, they tole me the gate was change to 29 (That where I was...).

Plane was delayed and the gate 29 is a bus gate. They too us out to the middle of the airfield where there was no lights other than ones from the plane. The flight was delayed for about an hour but the flight itself was only 1 hour and 20 minutes.

I arrive at Kansai around 9:30pm. By then everything was wining down at Kansai and immigration and custom was empty and I went through without any problem. All together, it took over 14 hours to get to Kansai. I booked the same flights for next month and I should be able to do better connection next time.

PSPINC and Cloud Computing

thread
PSPINC and Cloud Computing
You have been hearing about cloud computing for few years now and most of who’s who in the computer industries is providing the cloud computing platforms. Now, you are starting to hear about large corporations stating to move to cloud computing platforms to save money.

But you don’t really hear much about small companies moving to cloud yet. Main reason for that is simple. It is not easy to understand cloud and take advantage of the cloud. Simply, we do not know what the heck it is!

By moving to cloud, you do not have to:

(1) purchase server hardware.
(2) purchase server operating system.
(3) hire IT specialist to maintain your infrastructure.
(4) high speed Internet connectivity.

But in reality you need to hire specialists to select and setup cloud. That might be too expensive for small companies. The cost is prohibiting small companies to move to the cloud environment.

What we need is a solution design to run on the cloud platform. Cloud by itself is a shell and does not provide specific solutions. It is like a computer back in ‘80s. It can do many things so long as there is software for it. Cloud can do many things so long as there is software for it.

It is PSPINC’s mission to start investigate and deign and develop software that design to solve problem for small companies. We are now starting to spend R&D resource for cloud computing solutions.

We have no plan to create a cloud environment to compete with companies like:
http://aws.amazon.com
http://azure.microsoft.com
http://cloud.google.com
http://www.ibm.com/cloud-computing
http://www.hp.com/helion
http://www.dell.com/cloud

That will be stupid. We rather provide solution for companies using above cloud environments.

My doughtier gave me an Useless Box for my birthday to "BUILD".
She gave me a soldering tool kit as well. At glance, it did not look very difficult, and it was not too difficult. But I had to wear reading glasses to do the work. I hate getting old.

It too more than three and half hours to put it together. It should not take more than one if you know what you are doing. Soldering is a lot more hard than I thought. It has been a long tome since I soldered before.

Well, I made it and it works.
