This is what I told everyone when I heard about an accident ... aka human error.

It is called an accident.
In datacenter business, we are trying to prevent accidents.
Nobody expect anything to go wrong.
But things that Can go wrong will GO WRONG.
It is called the murphy’s law.

So, do not assume anything anything that everything or anything is okay.
You need to create a system that can catch things that can go wrong be fore it goes wrong.

Saturday Morning Trail Walk

I walked a trail this morning with three dogs. Because Tiny cannot walk hills or stairs, I carried him on the hilly section. The usual this walk takes little less than an hour, but today it took an hour and ten minutes. But even without hill sections, Tiny waked a lot today. Good for him.

This city has one of the best parks and trap system that I can use with my dogs. It's all so green and well kept. Other than a few homeless living in the park, it is very clean. I pick up trash and beer cans when I see them.

Homeless Problem

Not all homeless people are same. Some tried very hard but never got any break. But there are other homeless people who choose the homeless life. No matter what the reason is, I see no reason for homeless people to just dump trash and garbage.

I think city or someone should start cleaning up the mess (not people, just trash and garbages). I pick up trash and cans in the park I walk every morning but I do not want clean the parking lot next to the park. (As you seen in the picture)

Good Variety

Because there is Microsoft and many engineers from India ... we have good selection of Indian food. May be because I had Indian room-mate during my college years, I ate Indian food a lot. So, I am used to it.

I think it is a good value for $11 ~ $12 ($15 ~ $16 with Tax and Tip). I try not to eat too much carbohydrates, I eat no rice. But today, this restaurant had Dosa ... I had to have one.

インド料理はお昼ビュッフェ（食べ放題）スタイルがほとんど。お店によって少し味が違います。だいたい $11 ~ $12 で食べられますが、Tax + Tip で $15 ~ $16 になってしまいます。日本みたいに安いランチはないですね〜〜〜

I don't have Capital One account.

I receive several emails pretending to be financial institutions. Most of the are what we called phishing email. It is trying to fool you to give up your user name and password. So, be very careful.

Cloud is Good for Some Application but Not for Everything!

If you have an Intranet Application. it may not be a bad idea to utilize cloud infrastructures like AWS and AZURE. But if you are running an Internet Hosting Business like we do, doing it on the cloud does not make sense for many reasons.

(1) It will be harder to control the cost.
(2) We cannot always diagnose and fix problem remotely.
(3) 100% contro over the hardware is not possible on cloud.

City of Bellevue provides free WiFi service at their parks. When you sign-in, you see this page above. I cannot read it on my iPhone. I think they should spend little time to make sure the page is designed using Responsive Web Design.

Parking is getting more expensive in Seattle.

I work in so called East Side ... which is Bellevue, Redmond and Kirkland. And there is a lake between the East Side and Seattle. There are two bridges and one is free another has a toll.

I attend Seattle Executives Association meeting every Wednesday and here is what it cost me. Toll bridge round trip $5.00 and parking $17.00 for two hour visit. That does not cover the gasoline (we use 100% electric car). I wish there is a reliable public transportation that is cheaper and faster.

I left "nut" in my car.

Morning walk.

About a mile a way, I try to see if "nut" can be found.
App kept on searching but ...

The App showed the last location which was yesterday 12:53pm ... what is the point?

Within 80 feet, it found "nut" but location you see here is my phone, not "nut".

I purchased "tile", "TrackR" and "nut" to find out how easy it is to setup. Basically, their are all the same and not too difficult to setup if you know your way around your Phone App.

Then I started to wonder how it can communicate where it is to your App. So I decided to leave one of the device in the car and started my morning walk. About a mile out, I open the app to see if I can find the device.

NO ... The app could not find the device.
What is the point of that?

Then when I finished my walk (getting near the car), app finally found the device. (about 80 feet away). The I realized the device can only communicate with your phone via bluetooth. So if you loose your keychain and you walked away more than 80 ~ 100, this device will not help you find it.

App may remember where was synced last but that toes not mean anything. In my case, App thought the device was somewhere else. So the device is good for loosing keychain in the house or office. Not in the public places or outside.

This is what I found on the tile site.

How does Tile work?

Tile uses Bluetooth radio waves to communicate with the companion app on your phone or tablet. The Tile app "discovers" a Tile using the Bluetooth signal and then uses the location services of the device to update the location information for that Tile.

Your Tile can be discovered by your phone or tablet from up to 100ft., which is the standard range for Bluetooth.

Is it not going to locate your lost pet. I do not call pet lost if it is within 100 feet.

The Trackr is a convenient size device to attach to your keys & pair with your phone. The iPhone pairing was straight-forward to do. The Trackr App is also made simple to use. I like that you have multiple items you can pair to this device, not just your phone or keys. The sound the device makes is a little weak if you’re far from it, but it’s a neat invention that can help find lost things.

There are new product on the market design to attach to your keychain. This small device is connected to your smartphone and you can make it beep from your smartphone. You can also make your smartphone beep from this device. Also, you can track where this device is located in case if you loose it.

Those three basically do the same thing. Then how do you choose?

Price I guess ... I bought it on sale so "nut" is the lease expensive then "TrackR" then "tile".

Importance of Providing Internet Access

Do you think Internet access important to your clients?
If you say "No", you are not ready for current business environment.

You do not think about nit providing Internet access to your employees at work. Most of your employee rely more on Email and Social Media to communicate with customers.

Then, do you provide Internet access to the clients and vendors who are visiting your company?

It is often not secure to open your internal network to outsiders. So why not just get another Internet line (DSL or Cable) just for client access? This Internet access can be used in case your main Internet access is down as well.

This may set you back about hundred dollars a month but it worth a lot to your clients and vendors. And if you have a retail location, you really need to provide Internet access to your clients. So, they can review your business right there.

Top Level Domains (TLDs) are the last characters after the period in the domain names. So, pspinc.com ... out top level domain is .com.

(1) & (2) are given. Nobody wants to buy anything that is bad or poor service. So, the main thing people think about value is the price. You need to work hard to make sure your product is price competitive. If not, you need to work harder.

Flowers seem happy!!!

Looking at this chart, you really need to be efficient ...

If you have a good product and effective marketing, you need to be efficient to thrive. But if your product is poor and you have bad strategy and if you are effective, you do not waste much time.

So if you are efficient, you will make money or loose less money. Both are good.

I bought my daughter the last computer ... Considering her age, this should be the last computer I would buy for her.

The last one was purchased on Christmas 2010. It is amazing 2nd Generation MacBook Air 4GB + 128GB lasted this long. This is a MacBook Pro 13" Retina Display with 8GB + 512GB SDD. This should last a while.
