Why does the United States consider tipping customary? Logically, if we always expect tips, why not increase the price of goods and services to incorporate them? Some business owners may argue that adding the tip makes the price appear higher. Still, I believe including the tip is more conscientious because the customer still ultimately pays the same amount. In the same vein, they also apply the sale tax afterward. I have always believed that retailers should factor the sales tax and tip into the price from the outset.

In the 1950s, the tip percentage made up about 10% of the bill, but in the 1970s and 1980s, the tip percentage rose to 15%. Today, tipping anywhere between 15% to 25% has become the norm, including Washington state, where the average tip is about 18% or more.

People deem tipping necessary because servers often only earn minimum wage or less, so they rely on tips to supplement their income. This is because the minimum wage doesn’t just account for the actual wage, it also includes tips. Therefore, many argue tips are essential for minimum-wage workers to earn a living. However, I’m afraid I have to disagree with this notion. If companies paid fair wages from the start, 
tipping wouldn’t be necessary.

Many restaurants now also include tips for takeout orders. Amazon Fresh and other companies are also interested in adding a tip for delivery. While I’m not required to tip when purchasing items as an Amazon Prime member, it seems unnecessary to tip for Amazon Fresh orders.

Even if it were, prices are already high because of inflation, and I find it hard to justify tipping on top of that. While the U.S. is a great country, I don’t appreciate attempts to market products by making them appear inexpensive, with small tips. I sincerely hope they will transparently display the full cost one day.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I played 16 holes of golf yersterday. The person I played with needed to stop playing so we quit after 16. This was my forst golf reound in a few months. For that I think I played okay. The problem is that I could not putt at all. 

 

 

 

We are seeing a very beautiful sunset tonight. The temperature went up to over 73° today. It was a beautiful golf day. I think I am ready to go back to work tomorrow morning. I hope you all had a beautiful weekend.

 

 

 

 

 

 

When you start a business, many challenges await you. One of the most common barriers consists of administrative tasks like back-office operations, accounting, and taxation. As a salaried employee, your company takes care of these tasks, but when you start your own business, you must tackle them yourself. However, there are many advantages to starting a business as well. For example, if you are a salaried employee, your salary doesn't significantly change based on how successful you or the company are. However, if you are successful in starting your own business, your compensation may increase based on your own efforts and achievements. Another great advantage is that, as an entrepreneur, you can self-realize your visions and ideas and pursue a free work style. Although becoming successful involves risks, the opportunities for personal growth and self-actualization are greater.

In addition, entrepreneurs can develop their businesses based on their own visions and principles, letting them operate based on their own beliefs. This may increase their influence and contribution to society. Starting a business is not an easy path, but the satisfaction and self-fulfillment that come from the process of challenge and growth are great.

I started my business when I was 27 years old. However, I didn't start my business with the vision you might imagine. Rather, I was driven by circumstances that forced me to start my own business. However, it doesn't mean that I didn't have a vision. At the time, my vision was more like a "hope" than a plan. I started the company with the hope that I could keep it going for three years, and if it wasn't working anymore after three years, then I would look into getting a different job.

But this company has now been around for 36 years. Every year, expenses go up, and there is pressure to make sales to pay the employees' salaries. Nevertheless, I am always grateful for the loyal customers and excellent employees who have kept the company going.
