IKE'S PRINCIPLE #11 - KARATE

thread
"KARATE" Literally: "Empty H... "KARATE"
Literally: "Empty Hands"
Ready for new beginnings?
We are in the middle of the Covid-19 Isolation. Ike created Principle #11 when he was dealing with racial unrest as administrator of Seattle's Atlantic Street Center in the 1960s. The positive expression in the media was "Black is beautiful".

Ike, with Japanese heritage, thought, "Yellow is Beautiful???" Therefore, he created Ike's Principles. What would Ike have to say about our Coronavirus situation?

McKibbin of Brookings reported on NHK this morning the possibilities of economic advantages in the next few years.

For sure, we are following the recommended guidelines for isolation.

Looking beyond stage one, emptying my hands of critical rhetoric; I choose to use the problems and issues for consideration of new innovations.

TAKING ADVANTAGE OF OUR CRISIS

thread
STAYING IN GRATITUDE WHILE ... STAYING IN GRATITUDE
WHILE PLANNING FOR MORE
“Grandma, did I show you what I did?” as I look at the latest water color project. “Grandma, do you want one?” as I eat the latest version of her brownie cupcakes.

“MMmmm! that’s your best one so far. What did you do different?”

The 4-month Bernedoodle puppy rolls to her back and begs to be petted.

Then, back in my room watching TV - C-SPAN2 Coronavirus Response! Sofia Dickens started EQtainment - learning at home. She is inspiring us to improve decades of school issues, with new ways to learn at home and remotely. She says, "Schools would never have given in to needed changes without this crisis.

Alex Chriss is talking about helping with Quickbooks, "There are a host of ways Small Businesses can benefit."

So good to look at the possible outcomes of our crisis.

LEARNING TP CONSERVATION WITH COVID?

SIGN IN OUR BATHROOM "Doing... SIGN IN OUR BATHROOM
"Doing our part!"
The last couple years, no matter how much I complained, our granddaughters went through a roll of toilet paper every day. When I said something, the response was, "Eww, yuck! I don't want to get stuff on my fingers!"

Then we were faced with Covid-19 Isolation! The girls came up with this sign all by themselves after hearing about some of the issues.

SPIRITUAL PRACTICES

thread
APPRECIATIVE OF SAM'S SENS... APPRECIATIVE OF SAM'S SENSE OF HUMOR
DOG SPELLED BACKWARDS? :-)
With this being Easter Week, I’m thinking about my religious perspective. "INU" is the word for dog in Japanese.

My father became a born again Christian in his youth. Until I left home to go to college, I never missed our Baptist Church Sunday School, Morning Church Service, Evening Youth Fellowship and sometimes Wednesday prayer meetings. I never felt the need to rebel. I used to pray as I walked the 6 blocks to High School.

During my Nurses Training in Portland, I got out of the habit of church. My husband grew up in a home that was Buddhist. Because Sam and I had limited resources, I worked all year that first year we were married to make Christmas presents for all our family members as I wanted to keep some of my Christian traditions.

When we had children, Sam and I agreed it was important to take them to church. Therefore, we did attend the Japanese Methodist Church through their growing up years.

Since that time, I respect the need for Church Communities, but I’m no longer compelled to participate in regular religious practices. Sam and I grew in our respect for God and being spiritual. I talk to God the way I used to, but I don’t have the need to express that to others. I have been quoting Reza Aslan, from his book GOD, who says, “Each of us has to define our own GOD. No one else can tell us who GOD is.”

I appreciate the SPECIAL DAYS where various communities come together to carry-pass on VALUES that are basic to our purpose for the privilege of being human

VIRAL CHALLENGES

thread
EEERIE! PREDICTION 40 YEARS... EEERIE! PREDICTION 40 YEARS AGO
BUT THE NEXT CHALLENGE?
Kind of eerie! This is a book published in 1981 they say. Regardless of a possibility of the ability of the author to make predictions, life scenarios repeat over and over.

Viruses and bugs are living cells that continue to change and grow. Man has evolved over millions of years as well. I wonder what the next break through will be like penicillin or the MIR. I appreciate these medical answers in my life for short term answers.

The body with a good immune system has handled many challenges through the centuries. I like the idea of finding our answers from nature for the long run.

I'm sure someone is predicting another challenge 40 years from now as well.

Interesting to listen to a lecture by Dr. Ali Khan, THE NEXT PANDEMIC. He is the Director of the Office of Public Health Preparedness and Response at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. What kept him awake at night is "Influenza" in his 2016 video.

DISCOMBOBULATED BUT STILL ... DISCOMBOBULATED BUT STILL A BELIEVER IN CAPITALISM AND DEMOCRACY

I was flumoxed and kerfluffled as I listened to a bunch of ninconpoops talk a bunch of malarkey as they bamboozled their constituents into getting nothing done in the US Senate most of this last week. Amazing how discombobulated things are as they continue to pull their shenanigans in congress.

I like listening to BOOK TV and there were plenty of canoodling and whatnots equally flabergastly cattywompus back in the days of George Washington and Alexander Hamilton as well.

Life is gobsmacked with this persnikety whatchamacallit called Covid-19 as it gets its tenderhooks into moving the world into WWIII.

Will skedaddle before adding more poppycock to this malarkey.

COVID-19 ISOLATION - TIME FOR APPLIED THINKING - GOALS?

thread
THE SUGGESTION IS TO USE T... THE SUGGESTION IS TO USE THE DARUMA TECHNIQUE
FOR A ONE OR TWO YEAR GOAL.
It's comforting to know my new family, of the four of us, are prepared for this natural disaster. We are ready for isolating at home and staying healthy - physically, mentally, spiritually and emotionally.

For starters, our daughter has been ahead of the curve in running her business remotely. She has a successful web design and research business. She helped develop one of the first websites back in 1994 with Warner Brothers for Rosie O'donnell. Her gotomedia employees began working remotely the last few years.

Now with this WWIII type experience, we are getting more practice in "applied planning" as explained by Eckart Tolle. It occurs to us that loosing our electricity is something that has happened many times here on Mercer Island. It's time to get a generator.

Sunday, the girls had a session of practice for entrepreneurship. They sat around the kitchen table and came up with a list of invention possibilities. They are good at brainstorming.

The girls were promised a dog. So it was decided that this isolation time is a good time to train a new puppy. "Suki" (means 'I like you' in Japanese), a Bernedoodle is now part of the Goto household. Suki crate trained the first night or two, but the girls are working on potty training. Our 12-year-old says, "I didn't know it would be so much work." Cleaning up the pee and poop is going well.

The toilet paper roll is lasting longer. The motto: "Three to Pee, four for more!"

Our 10-yr-old is delighted with her designer sleeping/desk area with a Crow's Nest view upstairs. She prides herself in her picture perfect cleaning.

I cancelled my get-away trip to see the English Gardens in May. But it's fun to be able to start making plans and goals for what will be fulfilling for the rest of my new life. For sure, I've solved my loneliness issue.

As an 81-yr-old, it is best I isolate completely. Exercising on my rebounder is going well and I am working to get to 10,000 on my FitBit at least every other day. So far this week, I've made it the last two days in a row!

Time to get up and move! Exercise is my goal. I plan to put in the other eye next year.

"HEALTHY CELL" CAN MEDIATE - GREATEST ECONOMIC BURDEN

thread
We need a savings account of... We need a savings account of POSITIVE health for:
DAILY BUILDING & REPAIR OF OUR PHYSICAL SELF
What part of $95trillion for the cost of Chronic Illnesses do I have to endure? Do I pay my share because I’m old and sick myself? I hope not!!

In his book, FOOD FIX, Dr. Mark Hyman estimates a $95 trillion cost to the USA in the next 35 years. That’s 91% of all the taxes collected. That doesn’t leave any funds for any of Bernie Sander’s free stuff?

So which Chronic Disease should I work to avoid?

Fortunately, I learned 40 years ago that it’s best to give our body the tools (nutrients) it needs. And it’s a good idea to let “Healthy Cell” decide what to do. Our Nutrition and Family Counseling business has served us and our customers well.

I developed “Healthy Cell” as I remembered reading Dr. Seuss’s HORTON HEARS A WHO to our children. It occurred to me the universe Horton discovered on a flower petal was our world. Each of the 70 trillion cells making up each physical human body is a microcosm of the universe. Each of our cells have a nucleus surrounded by an environment.

It’s fun to hear the latest mentors in nutrition like Dr. Hyman suggesting: “How to Save Our Health, Our Economy, Our Communities and Our Planet — One Bite at a time.”

CORONAVIRUS AND OUR IMMUNE SYSTEM

thread
Dr. Richard Brouse Sunnyside... Dr. Richard Brouse
Sunnyside Health Center
MY TAKE ON DR. BROUSE’S Zoom Call RE`COMMENDATIONS

On a zoom call about the Coronavirus, Dr. Brouse suggests we keep our White Blood Cell Lymphocytes above 1500 and Globulin 2.4 to 2.8. The C Reactive Protein score below 0.8.

He warns us that the 1918 Spanish Flu deaths were even greater with the second round. We need to up our Immune Systems and not get complacent over the summer when the numbers decrease. We must be ready for the Fall season when the virus will likely have mutated so the vaccines won’t be as effective.

The main recommendations are warm liquids so our bodies stay hydrated. We don’t want dry upper respiratory passages for the viruses to get stuck. We want the bugs to slip down our digestive track where our intestines know how to deal.

Rest is important to build all our systems for daily repair and replacement of cells when our body isn’t dealing with activities.

The supplement recommendations are:
1. The basics of the multi-vitamins and Protein for all the “alphabet of nutrients” to make up all the words/cells of a healthy body.

Specific suggestions for Immune System builders are:
1. Nutri-Feron - Key in tumor preventing interferon, but also has virus protection components.
2. Vita-C - The glue that holds all our cells together.
3. D3 - Is kind of the bookkeeper and needs the light of the sun to keep track that all the body systems are doing their jobs and get paid.
4. Zinc - to make sure the mucous membranes stay whole
5. Optiflora DL - for the Lacto Bacillus - good bacteria - we need for good digestion, particularly of the B vitamins we need to cope with stress.
6. Garlic - Many studies showing the value of garlic in fighting colds and flus.
7. DR-Defend and Resist - for protecting the lining of our throats and such. The caution is to take a break every 10 days as Elderberry and Echinacea build up and become ineffective.

Dr. Brouse received his Master’s Degree in Biochemistry from Western States College of Colorado in 1970. When in the Army, he was appointed by the US Surgeon General to conduct metabolic research at the Burn Research Center in San Antonio, Texas from 1970 through 1972. He served as Professor of Clinical Nutrition, and an Instructor of Minor Surgery and Proctology at Western States Chiropractic College for many years. He is a Diplomate of the American Chiropractic Board of Clinical Nutrition, a member of the Linus Pauling Institute of Science and Medicine, and of the National Health Federation.

As always, Sam waS ahead of the game. The message of building the body's natural immune system remains timeless. His choice to not depend on synthetic and pharmaceutical products that come with side effects is benefitting us big time.
