今朝は朝の5時からAkemiの目覚ましがけたたましく鳴り、何回もsnoozingでやり過ごしてから、6時に皆で湧き上がりました。
こんなに朝早く起きる事は滅多にないのですが、遊びのためには命をかけねばなりません。笑。

片道2時間弱のトレッキング。
まだ朝が早いためか、鳥のさえずり声が周囲にこだまするように聴こえて癒されます。

深淵を見つけてそこに真っ先にジャンプしたのはAkemi。
子供らは繰り返し光の中へ飛び込んでいきますが、私は1回でもう十分。水が半端なく冷たくて、10秒以上浸かっていると足がしびれてきます。ただエメラルド色に輝くその水は、大変綺麗で感動です。

岩肌を流れる清流に乗って滑り台のように滑るスライダーもやってみました。最後は滝壺のプールにドボンと落ちるのですが、水深が充分あって足も怪我することなく楽しめました。

しばし夏休みの1日を堪能しました。

This morning, Akemi's alarm went off loudly at 5am and kept going as snoozing function a lot of times. After we made it through, we all sprung up at 6:00am.

I rarely get up this early in the morning, but I have to risk my life for the sake of play. LOL.

The trek took less than two hours each way.
Maybe because it's still early in the morning, the chirping of the birds is soothing as it echoes around us.

We found an pool and Akemi jumped there first fearlessly.
My kids repeatedly jumped into the pool, but once was enough for me. The water is so cold that my feet go numb after more than 10 seconds in the water. However, the emerald color of the water is very beautiful and impressive.

We also tried the slider, which is a slide with a clear stream running down the rock face. At the end of the slider, we fall into the pool of the waterfall, but the water was deep enough to enjoy it without injuring our feet.

We enjoyed a summer vacation for a while.

"This is the day that the Lord has established. Let us enjoy and rejoice in this day."

娘から送られてきた画像ビデオもシェアさせて下さい。私が川辺で昼寝してる時に子供らはサンショウウオを発見していたようです。1度も見たことがないこの貴重な動物を見てみたかったものです。

Let me also share a picture and a video sent to me by my daughter. Apparently the kids were spotting a salamander while I was napping by the river, that I've never seen. I would have loved to see this precious animal.

コロナに感染した場合の入院費用

今日もズームでのシアトルのオーナー定例会に参加しました。

ここ最近の米国ではコロナ感染者の数がうなぎ登りに増えている懸念の声が出ました。
そしてもし感染者として入院し治療を受けた場合の費用について伺ってみました。

先日ある方から質問を受けて答えられなかったからです。やはり私も感じていたように公的支援は全くなく、各自が健康保険に加入していなくてはほぼ支払い不可能な額となっています。

米国のコロナ禍初期に重篤な症状で数ヶ月間入院された方には1億円ほどの請求があったとのことです。
通常の入院費用が1日5000ドル(55万円)ほどだそうです。集中治療室での治療となると1回につき15,000ドル(160万円)。
あるメンバーの方は出産の時に48時間病院にいて請求費用は2500ドル。それが自然分娩でしたので脊髄に麻薬注射する場合なら費用が加算されます。
と言うわけでたとえコロナに感染しても私は入院はしません。重篤化してどうしても入院しろと言うのでしたら、その場で切腹でもしようかしらん？

日本の皆さん、この米国の医療費を信じられないでしょう。

かつて家人が具合を悪くして日本のある地方の町で診療を受けたことがあります。その日は休日の土曜日だったために主治医も不在の上、特別料金が加算されると言って担当してくださった女医さんが何度も気の毒そうに医療費が割増になることに、「すみません」と気を遣ってくださいました。

1時間ほどの診療時間でしたが、請求書を見て拍子抜けしてしまいました。わずか数千円だったのです。

ズームでの会議中にスマホを持ち出していつもの高台に行きました。
このきれいな夕日は日本でも同じように見ることができます。なのに医療費はどうしてこんなに違うんでしょうか？

I attended a regular Seattle owner's meeting at Zoom today.

We voiced our concerns about the swelling number of corona cases in the US these days.
And I asked about the cost of being hospitalized and treated as an infected person.

Because someone asked me a question the other day and I couldn't answer it. As I suspected, there is no public support at all, and if each of us does not have health insurance, it is almost impossible to pay for the cost of treatment. The amount is impossible to pay.

A person who was hospitalized for months with serious symptoms in the early days of the U.S. corona scourge has been charged about $100 million.
The usual cost of a normal hospital stay is about $5,000 (¥550,000) per day. When it comes to treatment in the intensive care unit, it's $15,000 (¥1.6 million) per session.

One of our member was in the hospital for 48 hours at the time of delivery and the bill cost $2,500. That was a natural birth, so if you want to inject a narcotic into the spine, you would be charged more.

So, even if I contracted the corona, I wouldn't be hospitalized. If it gets too serious and I have to be hospitalized, I'll have to commit seppuku on the spot.

People in Japan can't believe the cost of medical care in the US, can’t you?

My family once had a family member who was sick in a rural town in Japan. Since it was a Saturday, the main doctor wasn't there and said that there would be a special charge added to the cost. The lady doctor who gave treatment repeatedly told me that she was sorry that the medical bills would be increased.

It was about an hour or so, but when I saw the bill, I was beaten out of my mind. It was only a few decades dollars.

I took my phone out during the meeting at Zoom and went to my usual high ground.
This beautiful sunset can be seen in Japan as well.

So why is the cost of medical care so different?
