旧東海道の品濃坂
品濃坂からくるっと反転すると、私の通った平戸小学校が見えます
4年前の今日は横浜の生家を訪れて、それから近所を散歩しました。通った小学校のすぐ近くに旧東海道が通っており、そこには品濃坂があります。
ところで娘は本日も日本舞踊の稽古。
「お江戸日本橋」という演目は、日本橋を起点とする東海道五十三次の宿場町の様子を歌ったものです。
その4節に、品濃坂が出てくることに驚きました。
「痴話で口説は品濃坂 戸塚まあえ
藤沢寺の門前で
こちや とどめし車そ綱でひく」
歌詞をひらがなでも漢字でも読み書きできるように娘には特訓をしたのですが、ここを解説する時には冷や汗をかきました。
それにしても小学生だった当時の私は、そこがそのように有名な場であるとは露ほどにも知りませんでした。ただあまりの急な坂で、自転車をこぎながら登りきることのできなかった唯一の坂道だったことだけが記憶にあります。
どうせならスポーツでの汗かきの方を選びたいものです。
Four years ago today, I visited my birthplace in Yokohama and then took a walk around the neighborhood. The old Tokaido highway runs very close to the elementary school I attended, and there is a hill called Shinano-zaka there.
By the way, my daughter had another Japanese dance lesson today.
The performance, "Oedo Nihonbashi," is a song about the towns along the fifty-three stages of the Tokaido Highway, starting from Nihonbashi.
I was surprised to find that Shinano-zaka was mentioned in the fourth verse.
I trained my daughter to be able to read and write the lyrics in both hiragana and kanji, but I broke out in a cold sweat when I explained this part.
As an elementary school student, I had no idea that this was such a famous place. The only thing I remember is that it was the only hill that I could not pedal my bike up because it was so steep.
I'd rather choose to sweat it out in sports anyway.
