Have you ever felt that a place that is far away is closer when you try to get to even farther places? The other day I had business with the US Immigration Department and drove to a city on the US border with Canada. On the way there, I passed the city of Marysville, which has an outlet that I had always thought was far away. I passed that city very quickly and did not think it was far at all.

Things can be tough, but when you set your goal and set your vision to an even father place, you will not feel it’s as tough as what you are doing now. That means, as a manager or corporate owner, you should set your vision to far away places. That makes what you are currently facing seem not so difficult.

It's important to take care of immediate tasks, this is a given. However, knowing and working toward the future is the way to make it easier. What is your company's vision? What are you working for? I've been trying to look ahead and speak ahead lately. I'm sure it's my job. Are you talking and thinking about the future? What do you see ahead of you?
