Learning from the Past Marketing Techniques

thread
Learning from the Past Market...
Those are working IBM used in their commercial to introduce IBM PC back in 1980's. Do you think we can change some of the words and make it work as an advertisement for our company?

I sometime enjoy watching old commercials for inspirations.

In these modern times, person who goes to work may not have far to go. But that the hat of the month club the boss better keep moving to keep the books, organize the files, write the letters, check out the inventory, find time to create and still keep on top of things.

But even a thriving business can reach a point of diminishing returns. A good time to learn about the IBM personal computer. With this tool for modern times, a person can quickly master such jobs as accounting or word processing. Even use the IBM personal computer to forecast growth. All helping the business person at home to wear mont hats while selling even more. And that can be a feather in anyone’s cap.

IBM personal computer, try one on at a store near you.

What do you think???

Scrap and Build

When you try to create something better, there are only two ways to do this. One way is to use what already exists and make modifications to improve it. The second option is to create something new from the ground up. Both have their advantages.

Advantages of Improvement

  • Usually Faster
  • Costs Less
  • Compatible with Current System

    Advantages of “Scrap and Build”

  • Clean System
  • Latest Technologies

You usually do not choose one or the other. You try to prolong what you have by fixing it for as long as you can. You then rebuild everything when it is no longer possible to upgrade or fix the system.

You also have to rebuild from scratch when you have some kind of accident. In my business, all of the software we build gets old as technologies and environments change. So we are constantly upgrading and fixing our products. We eventually get to the point where we can no longer fix and are forced to recreate.

When we recreate a product, the cycle of upgrades and fixes will restart. It is a never-ending cycle.
