To be natural... why?

I've heard people say things like "what will be will be" and "be spontaneous." In short, I think it means not to go against the flow. What does it mean to let nature take its course? For example, if no one lives in a house, it will fall apart in a few years. Why is that? As the old saying goes, "Moss does not grow on a rolling stone." I believe that if nothing is done, moss will grow on it.

Therefore, if we continue to do the same thing in the same way, our work will eventually grow moss. I believe that always working against the flow will give birth to a business sense. That's why I always think of "new products," "improvements," and "upgrades" in my work.

What do you do to prevent moss from growing? Do you always have something in mind? Do you take notes of what comes to your mind? Have you tried something new today? Are you naturally rotten? I believe that doing nothing is the same as waiting for things to rot. I want to improve myself through action, not reaction.

New set of Irons has Arrived!

I think short games are the key to better scores.

I just received new set of Irons delivered by FedEx.
I am very excited.
This is my very first set with R shafts.

I know the clubs are not the biggest part of scores but it is like receiving a news toy in Christmas.
With this new irons, 6 is the longest. I did not order 3, 4 and 5 Irons as they are getting more difficult. I bought a new 10.5 Degree Driver and 25 Degree Hybrid. So, other than a putter, I have 10 clubs in my bag. If I hot this set well, I may buy 3 wood.

Can I use Gmail for business?

A few years ago, I would have said it was unthinkable to use Gmail for business email. I used to think that it made no sense to use free email to do business, but these days I no longer think so. I can't speak for all businesses, but I don't think there is anything wrong with using Gmail, at least for individuals running their businesses or those who are self-employed.

This is also true for websites. I don't think that self-employed people need to spend a lot of money on their websites. However, it is necessary to have a page with your profile on social media services such as Facebook, as an example. You also need to promote your existence through blogs and other platforms.

However, if you are not a sole proprietor, you should have a website if possible. In particular, it is not easy to publish job openings and company history anywhere except on a website. You may want to think about how you can use the services available on the Internet to be more efficient.

I was sad to see Amazon Go Fresh Store closed ... But now brand new Amazon Fresh store which is at least 20 times the Amazon Go Fresh Store is open in Bellevue / Factoria. Like Amazon Go Fresh, you can enter with the credit card and exit with the same credit card with our going through cash register.

Saying "I can't do it" is not a report.

When you say, "I can't do it," you're not reporting a fact, you're stating the limits of your ability. "I can't do it," "It will take a while," "It will cost too much," "It will take time" - in many cases, "I can't do it."

In many instances, if you answer "no," you need to clarify what you mean by that. For example, "I can't do that" is often the answer to a request to go to the moon, but when NASA asks SpaceX to go to the moon, it leads to a conversation of “how?"

Some things in this world can never be done, but most of the time, "can't" means "don't want to" or "it's too hard." Before you answer "I can't," remember that if the probability is not 0%, you are expected to think about how you can make that "I can't" happen.

Finally, "I've never done it before" is an excuse. If you can only do what someone else or you have done before, there will be no progress in the world. There is a difference between trying and failing and deciding that you can't and not trying. We should strive to become people who can try even if it fails.

Arrived in San Diego

Waking up at 5:30am and arrived at SEATAC at 6:30am to get on 7:10am flight to San Diego on Alaska Airlines. After just about 2 hairs and 40 minuets, I arrived in San Diego. This is the beginning of my 3 days and 2 nights trip. I am happy to be traveling again. I wish I could start my international travel soon.

Don't be relieved that the manual is ready

My company uses over 500 computer servers to host our website, email, and Internet application programs developed for our customers. Our main data center is in Seattle, and we have a backup data center at our headquarters. We have designed the backup data center so that if there is a problem with the main data center, we can continue to run our business from the backup data center.

Whenever a server computer in the main data center has a problem, I always tell our staff to failover to the backup data center before they focus on fixing the problem. Doing a failover is often slower than repairing the problematic server from a work efficiency standpoint, and the data center operations staff will not volunteer to do a failover. Still, I keep telling them to do it.

I keep telling people to do it because we have had a few data center accidents in the past where the data center was completely unusable. Needless to say, when that happens, you have to failover. There is a manual for failover, and if our staff follows it, they can do it, but I want them to do it as much as possible to learn these skills.

It's a mistake to be relieved that there is a manual. Even if there is a manual, there is no way of knowing for sure if you can perform an action if you have never done it before. So, can you failover, and how long will it take to recover the system? This is a data center that should not be broken, but there is nothing that will never break. I think it is our job to provide an environment where we can actually "do it", not just a manual on the assumption that things will break.

America is on the move

The coronavirus has been spreading in the US since March of last year. However, the peak of 210,000 infections and 1,700 deaths in a single day in January of this year is approaching a tenth of that number of infections by the end of May. This is because the US is well vaccinated. The number of deaths is still 5 - 600 daily, but this has dropped to around 10 in each state if you consider all 50 states. In states like Texas and Florida, even wearing masks is no longer necessary.

My company will continue to work remotely for the rest of the month, but June 30th will be the last day of remote work. Restaurants are also allowed to operate with at least 50% of their seats occupied, although it varies from state to state. As for the vaccine situation, in Washington state, where I live, you can get a vaccine without an appointment. Of course, you can also get the vaccine with an appointment.

When I go to work in the morning, the roads are not as car-free as they were last year, and there is a rush during the commute. As you can see, the situation in the U.S. is returning to what it was before coronavirus.

However, on the economic front, things still don't seem to be back to normal. Stock prices (especially those in the high-tech industry) are stagnant, but real estate prices continue to rise. I think the big issue now is whether companies can keep up with a society that is trying to get back on track. We are no longer in the era of the old days when we had to work hard without any pretense. In particular, the government is focusing on the environment and equality, not the economy, so companies are restricted in their movements.
