Last Saturday our school did something new - we had a Zoom party! First we introduced ourselves, then we chatted for a while, and finally, we played a game. The game was to find, in two minutes, five objects:
1) something purple
2) something square
3) something dangerous
4) something made in Japan, and
5) something sweet
It was interesting to see everyone`s items. Did you do anything fun last weekend?
Grammar:
Usually in English an adjective comes before a noun, e.g. 'a red ball', but an adjective comes after the words 'something/someone/somewhere/anything/everything/nothing' etc. e.g. 'We need someone strong' 'I wanna go somewhere warm' 'Nothing special'
On Saturday, we had a welcome party for new teacher Jade, & two new full-time staff, Misaki & Takako. Lots of students came & we had a lot of fun. We played bingo, ate sushi & pizza, drank beer, and chatted a lot. Please join us next time!

On Saturday night Gifu Teragoya had its Christmas party around the corner at a restaurant called Bar Sabio. It`s a Spanish restaurant, so I ate a lot of delicious Spanish food. I also talked to a lot of students, & drank a lot of Sapporo beer. It`s* been a while (= 久しぶり) since I drank Sapporo beer, but it`s a suitable beer for Christmas I think, because it has a big star on its label. Do you know why a star is put at the top of a Christmas tree? It`s because some wise men ("magi") who visited baby Jesus used a big star to locate him. It`s a kind of GPS. MagiPS...?

For this year`s Teragoya halloween kids party, I dressed as Frankenstein. I`m pretty skinny, so I put socks under the shoulders of my old 90s suit jacket (I knew it would come in handy one day) to look more muscly.
By pulling a handy wire inside my jacket, I could open my 'head' (a black, hairy bucket) to reveal a bloody styrofoam brain. When I did that, most people laughed, but some kids cried.
For my craft activity, kids put felt shapes onto a blank green Frankenstein face. When they finished, I picked it up & put it on a body, like a scarecrow, & we took photos in front of it. I like the design above - it has a cheeky smile.

A week ago we held our adults Halloween party at our Gifu school. There were lots of scary, funny, & interesting costumes. I dressed as Donald Trump. It was a lot of fun.
Vocabulary:
Be careful: funny = 笑える, fun = 楽しい, so: "The party was fun" but "This cartoon is funny."
There were more than 100 kids at our school`s kids halloween party on Sunday - great! There were a lot of cool costumes.
This year there has been a lot of Star Wars-related stuff (= things) on the Disney channel that my kids watch, but my kids didn`t understand what it was about. So I rented the DVDs of the original three movies. After that, of course they (& I!) wanted to wear Star Wars-related costumes to the halloween party.
There will be a new Star Wars movie in cinemas soon - do you plan to see it?

Teragoya had its Adults Halloween Party last Saturday. As you can see, a lot of people went, & it was a lot of fun. As usual, the costumes were great - there were several witches, a bunch of Wallys (from `Where`s Wally?`), a couple of princesses, various other characters, & even a flying remote-controlled shark - Wow!

Teragoya`s Kids Halloween Party was last week. Over 100 kids went.
This year my costume was a pirate. I think it looked good, but it was not good enough to win the `Best Teacher`s Costume` prize. And my costume wasn`t scary enough to make any kids cry this year. So I was doubly disappointed. Next year, if I have enough time, I will make a really strange & scary costume.

Thank you everybody who came to Teragoya on Saturday night to see my & my father`s artwork. I was happy to meet some old students who I hadn`t seen for a while. I tried to talk to everybody, but if I didn`t talk to you, I apologise.
Did you see the picture of the cat & kettle in the exhibition? A few years ago I went to Tokoname & took a photo of that scene in a shop. On Monday this week I went to Tokoname again. Using a map of the area, I managed to find that same shop. Inside, I gave my print to the shop owner. She was very happy. I saw the same cat was still in the shop. I felt happy too.

As expected, Saturday`s halloween party for adults at Gifu was great fun. Everyone had really interesting costumes and we all had a lot of fun chatting, playing games and of course taking photos. Some lucky attendees also received complimentary (= free) whippings by Dominatrix Henriette.
I wore the same costume that I wore to the kids` party last Sunday - Sadako from the movie `The Ring`. Last week I scared some kids so much that they cried, but I didn`t really scare anyone at the adults party. I tried hard - crawling along the floor making creepy noises and grabbing people`s legs - but nobody seemed surprised. Probably because I often behave this way at Teragoya parties.
