Electric Vehicle

thread
Electric Vehicle
Yesterday, the Nissan Leaf (a 100% electric vehicle) arrived at PSP!
Here’s a photograph of the Leaf being charged.
Since it operates without using gasoline, no CO2 is discharged when it runs.
And the Leaf is so quiet when it drives, it’s difficult to tell if it’s even turned on!
The PSP design team is devising a decal design now – I will announce when PSP’s original Leaf is born!
This is PSP at work, getting involved with promoting a greener environment.

Condolences to Steve Jobs

thread
For many people, Steve Jobs was an icon. However, he was more than an icon for PSP.

PSP started licensing and localizing Macintosh games and utility software products for the Japanese market in the early 90’s. When the Mac market became significantly smaller in the mid-90’s, our Macintosh licensing business went down with it. We couldn’t even find a master distributor for a good title like “Tomb Raider.”

But with our belief that the Mac market in Japan could still be a market for PSP to license and export software titles, we made the decision to release “Tomb Raider” for Mac in Japan, selling directly to end user customers without any distributors. That was the beginning of our new project—JapanCentral.com—and it was around the same time Steve Jobs returned to Apple.

Then the iMac changed our business. With the iMac bringing back love for Mac products to the existing customer-base and also to new users, we successfully brought many Macintosh games to the Japanese market and continued to sell our Macintosh titles in Japan into the early 2000’s.

The packaged software market has changed significantly during the last decade. PSP also made the transition to an internet service company with our own software running on all the servers. We no longer export Macintosh games to Japan, but if you come and visit us at PSP, you will see our gratitude for the Mac legacy. Our lobby is filled with Mac products from the past and our hall way is decorated with memorabilia from Mac World Tokyo.

All of us at PSP would like to thank Steve Jobs for giving us a chance to survive the tough technology climate of the 90’s. PSP wouldn’t have been able to reach where we are today without our relationship with Macintosh. The contributions Steve Jobs made to the world of technology allowed PSP to become our own software company.

We will follow his passion and carry on believing in our dreams for innovations, “Stay Hungry, Stay Foolish.”

Thank you, Steve, for leading our way.

With our deepest sympathy,
Pacific Software Publishing, Inc.
