If you look at the pages of any company website, you will find only good things about them. This is because they believe that marketing is to always make yourself look big, the way a blowfish swells up to make itself look bigger when it meets an enemy. They try to attract customers by constantly saying that they can do this and that. However, I think that they have been doing this too much lately and have lost sight of the scale of their business, the scope of what they can do, and the characteristics of their company.

No matter how much you try to look good and big, there are limits to what you can do. So, instead of trying to make yourself look big, I think it is important to market the business that you are best at. What is it that you do best right now? Does your website do a good job of describing it?

It's hard to develop a broad and shallow scope of business because the market is too big. No matter the size of your company, it doesn't take much money or time to focus your marketing efforts on one specific point. The first thing to do is to think about what your company's strengths are. The smaller the scope, the better. The Internet market is huge, so no matter how small your frame of reference is, it will be enough for the market size.

Once you have decided on this, create a website to make it known to as many people as possible. Also, be sure to follow up with social networking sites and blogs related to this point of focus. If you are successful, then you can expand your target audience little by little. If you spread a big net from the beginning, you will not catch anything and it will be difficult to continue.

How do you keep track of your passwords? I used to store all of my passwords in Numbers (Apple's version of Excel) and protected that document with a password. I kept it on a cloud drive (iCloud) so that I could access it from all my devices (Mac, iPad, iPhone). Many people manage their passwords in the same way, either by putting them in the cloud or by writing them down in a notebook instead of storing them online.

The application or browser you are using usually remembers the password, and the password is entered on its own. This means that if something goes wrong and you need to enter your password, you will most likely have forgotten it. To prevent this, many people use easy-to-remember strings of letters and numbers as passwords, and then use those passwords on multiple sites. So, if your email address and password are exposed on one site, others can use the same combination on many other sites.

All current services created by Pacific Software Publishing, Inc. require that passwords be at least 8 characters long and contain upper and lower case letters, numbers, and symbols. However, in the past, passwords such as 000000 or “password” could have been allowed. Although we promote not using the same password for multiple sites and using complex passwords, it goes without saying that this can be cumbersome for users.

To solve these problems, Pacific Software Publishing, Inc. has been developing a password management service. It is now finally ready for alpha release. It's a system that covers all of the security features available today, and it's currently free for anyone to sign up. If you decide to sign up, please let us know how it works for you. At present, the interface is only available in English, but we hope to add Japanese language support in the beta version.

Tips for creating a successful contact form for your business website

Contact forms are an important part of any business website. While many company’s use their online presence to provide information to the customer, the contact form turns the tables. It allows the customer to talk directly to the business owner.

With a contact form, you can gather customer feedback, valuable leads, and curate contacts for your email marketing efforts (we have a powerful service for that). All of which are geared towards making your business better and generate more sales - do I have your attention?

Fields you should include with your contact form

Name - Okay this one is probably a bit obvious, but you will want to know who you are speaking with when you receive an inquiry. This field should be a required field to submit.

Email Address - Having a way to contact a customer is important. If a website visitor contacts you via your contact form, odds are they are comfortable with email communication. Also, nowadays, more people are likely to give you an email address rather than a phone number. You should make this a required field as well and make sure you have validation set up to only accept valid email addresses.

Message - They are contacting you for a reason right? A simple text box is enough to allow them to add as many or as few details as they want. Luckily you also made the email address required so you will have a way to follow up with them again if you require any further details. It is debatable whether you should make this field required. Ultimately you have already collected their contact information with the above two fields. So you already have the means to contact them if you need them to elaborate.

People over the age of 60 often turn on the TV when they wake up in the morning and have it on until they go to bed at night. That being said, many people under the age of 30 today do not have a TV. I have a TV at home, but it is only used as a display for Apple and Chrome TV. We don't have cable TV, and we rarely watch over-the-air programming. I watch the news on YouTube, so I can watch what I want when I want.

First of all, I think everyone knows that newspapers have been ruined. Magazines are next, followed by TV and radio, which have become meaningless. However, it is also true that people are watching programs on the Internet. For example, if you subscribe to a subscription model video streaming site such as Netflix or Amazon Prime, you can watch most of the programs. YouTube also has a large number of users who visit it daily.

Just as the elderly used to turn on the TV from morning to night, many people now check their smartphones as soon as they wake up in the morning and do not take them out of their hands until they go to bed. In light of this, information needs to be distributed via the Internet, not through legacy media such as television. Moreover, we must not forget that we are not talking to a computer, but a smartphone. More than half of users come to your site on their smartphones. Is your website compatible with smartphones?

How to choose the right type of website for your business

So you have decided you need a website, what next? Perhaps you search online for Web Developers, or you talk to your best friend’s cousin who has built websites before. The next thing you know, you are being bombarded with requests.

Things like:

How many pages do you need?
Do you have content and images ready?
Can you provide some samples of websites you like?

I know this can seem overwhelming, but these are all important questions that will need to be answered to build a successful website. In many cases, we work with customers to answer these questions as part of our initial finding session.

However, there is another question that is equally important to the project but not as straightforward. That question is - what type of website do you want? Your initial reaction might be, “Is this a trick question? I want a website on the Internet.”

No, it’s not a trick question. When it comes to websites, they come in many shapes and sizes. The type of website you choose will have an impact both on how you manage it in the future, and most importantly - the budget.

There is no right or wrong answer, as ultimately it depends on your needs. Let's take a look at 2 common types of websites and the pros and cons of each.

Custom-built Website

What this means is a website that is coded by a Web Developer. This is generally done through the use of HTML, CSS, and maybe other coding languages the Developer is comfortable with.

Pros: Generally quicker to build, and thus more cost-effective for initial development. Often less bloated under the hood so it is capable to be much more optimized than a content management system for search engines.
Cons: Unless you know how to code yourself, you will need to hire a developer to make every little update. If you frequently change your site this can prove to be costly, and challenging if your updates are time-sensitive.

Content Management System (CMS) Website

You have likely heard the term CMS before, but you may not know what that means. In a nutshell, it is a website that has an admin section so it can be updated through a web browser.

Pros: Provides tools for the website owner to make updates immediately themselves, lowering the cost associated with future changes. Many have plugins that are easy to install and use to add more to your website.
Cons: Initial development is longer and more costly. There is also the risk of the website owner breaking their website when making updates. You will be responsible for making necessary security updates as time goes on (very prevalent with WordPress). Sometimes running these updates can cause issues with various areas of your website.

Depending on your initial needs and how frequent you will be updating your website, you will be able to make a decision that is best for the budget both in the short-term and the long term.
