Yesterday we had a visit from one of the 2012 Summer Experience in Seattle alums. She's back in town visiting her host family from last year, and the whole family visited the PSPINC office to have lunch with Mayumi and some of the other people who worked on the program last year. We're so happy to keep in touch with the kids who visited last year, and we can't wait for this year's group to arrive this week!
PSPINC, founders of PSP Children's Foundation, turned 26 on Sunday! Founded in an apartment on Mercer Island on July 7th, 1987 by Ken Uchikura, PSPINC has come a long way from its humble beginnings as a software localization company. With a long history of community involvement, it was no surprise that they would have such a big and prolonged response to the Japanese Earthquake & Tsunami, as it affected not only the business but also directly affected PSPINC's employees and partners.

PSP Children's Foundation is deep in the last rounds of making arrangements for the children who will be arriving in a few weeks. We're working hard to make sure everything runs smoothly for our visitors as well as our volunteers and host families.
PSP Children's Foundation will be working with our local YMCA to organize a visit to the facilities for a class after the children arrive. We are grateful for this opportunity, both for the generosity behind the act and for the chance to have the kids participate in an activity on a day they'll probably need it.
PSP Children's Foundation met with Google today to go over details of a tour and lunch at the Google offices for the visiting students in this year's Summer Experience. We very much appreciate Google's generosity in hosting an event for the kids this summer. Yesterday PSPINC representatives attended the luncheon for Puget Sound Business Journal's Corporate Champion Awards. PSBJ recognized eight companies as Corporate Champions in eight categories, and 75 total companies for their corporate charitable giving.
PSPINC was recognized as the Healthy Community Corporate Champion in the category of Global Giving for their work in creating the Summer Experience in Seattle program for child survivors of natural disaster and the establishment of PSP Children’s Foundation as a non-profit organization.
Per the Puget Sound Business Journal, "The Corporate Philanthropist Awards honors the 75 companies that make the Business Journal's expanded Corporate Philanthropist Lists, and The Healthy Community Corporate Champion Awards honor eight companies that embrace the Seattle Foundation's mission to create and sustain a "Healthy Community" - or a community built on the eight strong pillars of Arts & Culture, Basic Needs, Economic Opportunity, Education, Environment, Health & Wellness, Neighborhoods & Communities, and Global Giving."

The 2012 Summer Experience was a great success thanks to the generosity of our hosts as well as our sponsors. Our hosts provided generous discounts, places to stay, companies to visit and meals to share.
This year, PSPCF needs companies and attractions that can help by providing discounts or excursions for the group, lodging for the first night for the children and the teachers' lodging for the full two weeks. PSP Children’s Foundation (PSPCF) was formed in 2012 to provide programs and opportunities for children who are overcoming great challenges. In 2012, PSPCF put together a program called “Summer Experience in Seattle” for children who lost a parent or parents during the Tsunami in Japan in March 2011. In 2017, we established a scholarship fund at the University of Washington Foster School of Business to help financially disadvantaged students achieve their educational and career goals. Through our charity golf event we were able to give these 5 scholarships to 5 deserving students at the Foster School of Business.
