Dan Price 08, founder and owner of Seattle-based
Gravity Payments, recently received the national Young Entrepreneur of the Year by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). With this award, Dan has been invited to consult with President Obama at the White House on issues relating to entrepreneurship and innovation during National Small Business Week 2010 in late May.
An independent panel of judges selected the winners based on several criteria, including; staying power, business growth, increase in employees, response to adversity, innovation, leadership and contributions to the small business community, and evidence of community-oriented projects. Dan was also a Washington state and regional winner, competing against other young entrepreneurs in Alaska, Idaho, and Oregon.
Dan and his brother, Lucas, founded the company in 2004. Gravity Payments provides full-spectrum payment processing solutions including credit and debit card processing, electronic check payment processing, gift and loyalty programs, and e-commerce solutions. The company was recognized as one of the nations fastest growing private companies in 2009 by Inc magazine. Dan was recently featured in SPUs etc magazine. Congratulations, Dan!
