PUGET SOUND BUSINESS JOURNAL (SEATTLE)

bout a third of Seattle-area executives said it may be cheaper for their businesses to stop offering health care benefits and pay fines in the wake of national health care reforms enacted earlier this year, a Washington State University survey discovered.
When asked if it would be cheaper to forgo tax incentives for offering health care benefits, more respondents (30 percent) said paying the fines would be less costly. About 25 percent said providing health care benefits and receiving the tax benefits would be less costly and another third said they were unsure, with the remainder saying they don’t offer health insurance.

Words of Wisdom

thread
Words of Wisdom
A young couple moves into a new neighborhood.

The next morning while they are eating breakfast, The young woman sees her neighbor hanging the wash outside.

"That laundry is not very clean", she said.

"She doesn't know how to wash correctly.
Perhaps she needs better laundry soap."

Her husband looked on, but remained silent.

Every time her neighbor would hang her wash to dry, The young woman would make the same comments.

About one month later, the woman was surprised to see a nice clean wash on the line and said to her husband:

"Look, she has learned how to wash correctly. I wonder who taught her this."

The husband said, "I got up early this morning and cleaned our windows..."

And so it is with life. What we see when watching others depends on the purity of the window through which we look.

Stimulus Talk

thread
Stimulus Talk
Several weeks ago, I had an opportunity to request introductions into local businesses during my stimulus talk. My fellow Seattle Executives really went the extra mile. I received multiple warm introductions into these companies. I would not have had the opportunity to meet with these companies without an introduction from a trusted friend and advisor.

The power of this great networking and leads group is amazing. Whatever your business need may be, you can certainly count on the group to be there to support you and your business. During times of economic change, and uncertainty, we need each other more than ever.

People can’t help if they don’t know what you need. Through the stimulus talk, and other leads exchanges, you can focus on areas where your business needs help. I strongly advise members to sign up for a stimulus talk, and have a specific goal in mind.
