家の改良

先月家のエアコンを新しくしました。三菱のエアコンです。多分日本では家庭用は300,000円もしないと思うのですが、アメリカでは6000ドルを超えてしまいました。これにタックスがつくので日本円で言うと1,000,000円です。これってなんでこんな高いの。日本のものはもう少し小さいのかな?よくわかりません。

次のプロジェクトは家の周りのフェンスを新しくすることです。ところどころ腐ってるのでまずは家の南側の壁105フィート約32メートルを新しくするつもりです。今数社から見積もりをとっています。アメリカの家でフェンスを変えるときはフェンスで仕切る相手の家との間の費用の負担をどうするのかと言うことを考えなければいけません。これが結構面倒なんですよ。

Last month, we replaced the air conditioning unit in our home with a Mitsubishi one. While I imagine household units in Japan cost less than 300,000 yen, here in the U.S., it ended up exceeding $6,000. With taxes included, that's around 1,000,000 yen in Japanese currency. Why is it so much more expensive? Are the ones in Japan smaller? I'm not entirely sure.

Our next project is to replace the fence around our house. It's starting to rot in some places, so we're planning to start by replacing the 105-foot (about 32 meters) section along the south side of our house. We're currently getting quotes from several companies. When changing a fence in an American home, you have to consider how to split the cost with the neighbor whose property is divided by the fence. This can be quite complicated.
