I trade-in my old golf clubs for another set of pre-owned clubs. There are two preowned online stores run by the manufacturers. One is Callaway and another is TailorMade.

I check the trade in prices and and found out there are quite a difference in the trade-in values. The trade-in value at TaylorMade was $277.50 where Callaway was $396.00. Calloway took my trade-ins 42% higher than TaylorMade. TaylorMade does not charge you shipping but I have to ship it to Callaway myself. I went FedEx and the ground shipping was $26.35. I still came way ahead with Callaway.

So, withy my new (pre-owned) Driver, Fairway wood and 4 to PW irons came out to be $402.57. After trade-in and shipping of $9.95. The difference was $16.52. Not too bad for new sets. This time my trade-in was higher at Callaway but I know TaylorMade often does 30% trage-in value increase. So, check their website and compare.

I wish more manufacturers offer pre-owned online stores with trade-ins. I will report what I have purchased when I get them.

I cannot believe how tired I am playing 18 holes. I played from championship tee first time in three years. I shot 44/52 96. We have to stop after 9 for 20 minuets due to the rain. It was a long golf.

Starbucks used to have free WiFi but last time I was here they change the policy. I have to test it this time again.

All those WiFi routers, non of it is free WiFi.

Tokyo Metro Subway has WiFi but only available at stations.

Japan has a good cellular coverage and many WiFi signals but non of the WiFi Signal is FREE. I don't understand this. When you come to Japan, you need to ask your carrier how to get access in Japan.

Cookie is having a surgery

Cookie is getting surgery to remove a tumor removed this Tuesday. He is already 14 years old. I really hope he survive the surgery and makes a full recovery. I am leaving Ashiya today and heading to Tokyo today so I 'm not going to with Cookie on the day of surgery.

I gave him a good haircut that lasts all summer.

Internet Traffic

Yesterday make the end of long holidays in Japan called Golden Week. We have reported higher than usual Internet traffic from Japan as people were getting back to work. At 9:30am Japan time (5:30pm Seattle Time), we hit the peak and we expected to calm down. But that did nit happen.

As you can see on the graph, very high load continues for next 5 hours peaking almost 930Mbps (Inbound & Outbound Combined). We have never seen the before. Our system was able to handle this huge traffic for long time without any problem. We are very happy to see this, but we will be making sure we are ready for even larger traffic as our customer base increases.

I said this long time ago but I say it again. Where did 4GL (or Relational Database Application Program Development Language) go. I used to use 4GL/Relational Database to create a multi user DOS application. It was easy to make and I could add lots of functions.

Now we have SQL (Database) and PHP, PERL, CGI, Java, C, C++ languages but there is no east user interface development tool. You need to be a programmer to use tools like those. The problem is that the programmers do not understand business or accounting to create useful programs. We need easy-to-use database application programming tools like dBASE, DataFlex, Paradox, Revelation with the backend being HTTP server.

Cloud and this infrastructures does not mean anything if you do not have application programs.
