The oldest company in the world is Kongo-Gumi, a company that handles shrine and temple construction in Osaka. The company was founded in 578 during the Asuka Period and has existed for more than 1,400 years. It was founded by Kongo Shigemitsu, a palace carpenter invited from Baekje by Prince Shotoku to build the Shitennoji Temple.
