Our HQ Building's windows have been replaced with beautiful & energy efficient new windows. Now we are starting our R&D building window replacement. This will save us lots of energy which we will see in the electric bill in the winter.
It is getting cold in the morning in Seattle. Daylights are getting shorter.
I ordered Braun Shaver System from the Credit Card Reward Program. This is the page that shows the product I ordered. When I received the product, it did not come with the base unit which cleans the shaver. I called the Reward program support but they told me the vendor did not include the base unit as a part of reward program.
This is very stupid on the Reward Program part to supply incomplete product. I was frustrated but in the end I just ask the Reward Program people not to do this again and possibly drop this vendor. It will hurt the reputation of the the credit card issuing company.
When you do business, you must think customer is always right. Beside, the support is there to support customer, not there to prove the customer is wrong.
Beautiful holiday morning in Seattle.
Compared to few years ago, US dollars are much more affordable which makes things in the US much more affordable. So, why aren't we seeing more things made in America? Why aren't we making thing in the US?
It is the cost ... It is always a cost. What cost? Isn't it getting cheaper?
Well, yes and no. When you talk about cost, it i snot just what it costs now. You really think about 2, 5, 10 years from now. Also, rules and regulations in the US makes it more costly than places like China. You also need to think "Made in the USA" must mean better quality. If it is not, it does not mean anything.
I would like to see more thing made in the USA, but it may not be possible.
I went to play golf at my club today. Uncharacteristic for my club, today's round took almost five hours. I has to wait almost all the tees. You join the member's club to avoid this type of wait. That was not cool!
I do not like anything slow ... especially golf and software.
We are in the process of releasing new and improved version of shopping cart system. This system enables shop owners to easily open and list all products for sale. Today was our first internal demo.
We will be debuting this system later this year as our part of PSPIN Hosting Solutions/Services.
Because we run data centers, we use more electricity than most other companies. But when you really think, we host almost 40,000 companies' web site and email servers with 500 servers, that is quite a saving compared to 40,000 servers.
But, to reduce the energy usage, we are replacing all of our windows with more energy efficient windows. Emerald City Energy (http://www.emeraldcityenergy.com/) is helping us with this large project.
We are almost done with HQ building, and we will start on R&D building next.
What would you look for when you are looking for a place to host your web site? Here are some criteria that you can use.
(1) Find reputable hosting company. In addition to PSPINC (us), there are several companies that we can recommend.
(2) Try finding the hosting company that does not do everything online. You can someone to talk to.
(3) If they are local, that is better. The location of data center does not matter so much, but having someone locally will help you if something happens.
(4) Do not use any company (or person) operates from their house or office space being used as a data center. There is a difference and you get what you pay for.
(5) Find out what kind of internet connectivity the vendor offers. It does not take a lot of bandwidth, but you need to look for redundancy.
(6) Ask around, or ask us. We will be happy to help you find the right company even if it is not us.
(7) If your web developer or IT person select the hosting company, ask them why?

One of the web hosting service programs that we released two weeks ago caused "What's New" module to cause the web page design to be broken. We found that out and we asked our design team to stay late to fix all customer's web pages manually. We work until late last night but we finished it.
God job, everybody. I am happy to have such a dedicated team of people. It is our support team's work to day to let affected customers know what happened.
