Today, let me tell you about a fundamental difference in safety standards between the United States and Japan.
I will start from the conclusion.
Japanese safety standards are designed to ensure that accidents do not occur and problems do not occur.
American safety standards, on the other hand, are designed to ensure that accidents and problems do occur, and that they are dealt with promptly when they do occur.
This difference comes out in various aspects. For example, automobile safety standards in the U.S. do not focus on avoiding accidents, but rather on how far passengers can be protected in the event of an accident. Therefore, standards for airbags, bumpers, seat belts, etc. are important. In addition, the Shinkansen trains scheduled for export from Japan to Texas will be equipped with emergency exits. Come to think of it, Japanese bullet trains do not have emergency exits. Passenger planes are prepared to U.S. standards, so they have emergency exits, right?
Japan prepares to prevent accidents and problems, and I think this leads to high quality. In the U.S., good problem handling and customer service are important. Returns, which are commonplace in the U.S., are part of this service.
It is impossible to demand quality from American companies and products, but the truth is that good customer service makes up for it in the US. I hope you have gained some understanding of the situation in the U.S.

Seminar in Los Angeles
Tomorrow (Feb. 23), I’ll be giving a seminar on the use of the web at the Miyako Hybrid Hotel in Torrance. The idea came from comments I heard from people in sales. They thought that creating a website would attract customers and inquiries and the business would expand. But it didn’t attract people, and needless to say, it didn’t lead to more business. So, they created a website, but abandoned it.
A website provides information. When you open a store, depending on the location, people will walk by. Therefore, some people might enter the store by mistake, but a website isn’t something people will mistakenly pass by. So, it’s difficult to attract customers just by making a website. The only way to get to a website without publicly advertising it is to type the domain name directly into the browser. Therefore, it’s inconceivable that people would come to a website as soon as you create it.
To get people to come to your website, you’ll need to implement a way to attract people there. First off, to attract people, you’ll need to promote your website on other web pages, especially popular ones that get a lot of traffic. In the seminar, we’ll discuss the steps needed to attract people to your site, including domain names, hosting environment, site reliability, site structure, blog, social media platforms, etc. We’ll be conducting the seminar in Japanese.
If you’re in Los Angeles and would like to attend tomorrow (Feb. 23), we’re holding the seminar at 4:00 p.m. To attend, please call 858-650-0011. Please note that we’re limited to 40 participants, and we may not be able to accept your registration once we hit capacity. We also plan on offering the seminar in English in the future. If you’re interested, please feel free to contact us.
