1. Do not click any weird links in emails you don't recognize.
If you don't recognize the sender or you are not expecting someone to send you a link it is best to not click.
2. Have a good password policy
One of the easiest ways to access a system is a weak or stale password. A weak password is typically something common like "password" for your password or "123". A stale password is a password that has been in use for more than 3 months on average. It is best to change passwords on a quarterly or earlier schedule.
What is a secure password?
3. Have paid for anti-virus
Don't use the free versions of antivirus software. Paid for antivirus software comes with extra protection that everyone should be using to prevent attacks. Here at Pacific Software Publishing, we are an ESET reseller. ESET comes with ransomware protection and many other features to help secure your network. To find out how PSP can help protect your computers, give us a call or email us; our email and phone number are below.
With just these 3 steps you can help reduce your risk of being affected by ransomware.
