Don’t Be Afraid to Fail

What do you think is the biggest difference between an employee and a business owner? I think it consists of responsibility. For example, let's say you succeeded at something. In the case of a salaried worker, in my opinion, their achievement has little direct impact on the performance of the department. However, the achievements of a business owner reflect directly on you. Of course, it's also at the business owner's discretion to distribute praise amongst the employees.

And what about failures? Even if an employee causes a failure, it isn't normal for organizations to hold that employee responsible for it. Instead, the failure falls on the business owner.

All of this makes it very difficult for business owners to decide what actions to take. They must ultimately determine whether to make a decision or not. However, there isn't always enough information available, in this instance they must make a decision with limited details. Naturally, they could wait until they gather more information or not make a decision, but this may lead to missed business opportunities.

So how should business owners make decisions? I would avoid situations that could lead the business to lose all critical investments. I also assume that the company is prepared to withstand the worst-case scenario.

I believe that business is not a gamble, so I won't take risks recklessly. Perhaps that attitude is one of the reasons PSPINC has been in business for 36 years. At the same time, it may also be a factor as to why we haven't grown rapidly, either.
