How Email Works
This week, we’ll explain how an email you send reaches its recipient. PSPINC provides email services through our hosting platform, Dreamersi, and I’ll also touch on how that system works to improve your email experience.
The Email Sending Process
- From the Sender’s Device to the Outgoing Mail Server
When you compose an email in your email client (such as Outlook, Thunderbird, Mac Mail, or Gmail) and click “Send,” your message is sent to the outgoing mail server provided by your service. This is typically an SMTP server. - From the Outgoing Mail Server to the Recipient’s Server
The outgoing mail server uses the domain information from the recipient’s email address (e.g., @example.com) to identify the recipient’s mail server, usually a POP or IMAP server. If the recipient’s address is valid, the server delivers the email to their inbox. - Processing at the Recipient’s Server
The recipient’s server stores the email in the user’s inbox. - From the Inbox to the Recipient’s Device
The recipient retrieves and reads the email using their email client. Two common methods for accessing emails are POP and IMAP.
Additional Processing with Dreamersi Email Services
PSPINC’s Dreamersi email services offer enhanced safety and convenience with the following processes:
Outgoing Mail
- Virus Scanning
All outgoing messages and attachments are scanned for viruses. If a virus is detected, the email is blocked from being sent, and the sender is notified.
Incoming Mail
- Virus Scanning
Incoming messages also go through a virus scan. If a virus is detected, the email is blocked from reaching your inbox, and the recipient will be notified of the issue. - Phishing Filters
Using DKIM (DomainKeys Identified Mail) and DMARC (Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting & Conformance) authentication technologies, our system verifies the legitimacy of the sender. Emails identified as fraudulent are blocked from the inbox. - Spam Filtering
A spam detection program assigns a spam score to each email. Emails exceeding the threshold are moved to the spam folder. Additionally, we provide a daily summary of your spam folder contents, allowing you to recover any important messages.
Delivering Reliable Email Service
After completing these processes, emails are delivered safely to your inbox. You can flexibly access them using POP or IMAP. Dreamersi’s mail servers are powered by PSPINC’s proprietary system, ensuring high stability and robust security.
At PSPINC, we are committed to providing a trustworthy email environment for all our customers.
