I spent $300 to design a logo for a new service at http://99designs.com . I was not sure how it works, but after two week contest and 65 entries, we chose the design we like and the experience was great. For just $300, it turned out to be cheaper than using our creative team for such a small project.

But remember, this is just a design. No explanation of what the design is about or thinking behind it. Fo that you need to hire a professional designer to let him learn about what you are trying to accomplish. But for $300, I think it is good enough for a logo project.

I know the name (screen name) of the person but I have no idea who this is. I thank everybody for submitting the design.

I do not like AT&T and Verizon.

I went to look at iPad2 yesterday. There are two companies offering 3G versions. Those companies are AT&T and Verizon. I do not know why but both companies do not offer unlimited data package for their iPad 3G services. That is the reason why we selected Sprint for our phone service. There is not data limit. I guess I will not buy 3G version of iPad2 or buy iPad2 at all.

I saw this cute truck in Oregon. Electric car is better for an environment ... or is it?
That is all depends on where the electricity coming from, isn't it.
If it comes from coal, it is not environmentally friendly. If it is from nuclear power plant, it can be deadly.

Microsoft Office 365

I sign up for the beta test of Microsoft Office 365. It is supposed to be a cloud version of office and online services offered at $5 per seat per month. This service should include the exchange server, share point and full version of Microsoft Office. It sounds very good, although $5 per month per seat is not that cheap for a small companies. But those cloud computing providers are not looking at small businesses.

If I were selected, I will let you know what it is like.

Instead of having people (your potential customers) type URL like http://www.pspinc.com/japanrelief on their smart phone, you can just present the QR Code like above and have them scan it. It is much easier than typing. No mistake either.

The term "QR Code" is a registered trademark of DENSO WAVE INCORPORATED.

My email address was stolen from a store

Walgreens sent me an email telling me that the email address database was accessed without authorization. We do not work with Walgreens but we take those incidents very seriously. It is very unfortunate that there are people out there trying to hack into your system.

Recently, one of our web servers were attacked with malware (malicious software) and it was such a slow developing program that all our backup were affected as well. We had to shut down one server for a half a day to clean up malware from each and every file on that server. We worked all night to clean up all files.

I wish we are in the world with no malicious people, but that will be wishful thinking.

IMAP is coming!

PSPINC is developing IMAP Email Server for its http://www.dreamersi.com email hosting service. We just shifted all PSPINC email service from POP3 to IMAP last week for final phase of testing. IMAP enables multiple devices such as PCs and Cellular Phone to share one email box.

We are hoping to release IMAP service soon.

Malware Attack

We are experiencing the Malware problem on one of our web servers. Malware is a short name for malicious software which resides in the server to rewrite many files to redirect unsuspected web visitors to virus sites.

We believe one of our customers were infected with virus and has pass that on to our hosting server. The malware didn't do anything until today. I do not know what triggered the malware. It is almost 1:00am and we ares still cleaning up.

This is not affecting any of our US clients.
