Creating a recovery disk --- Mac OS-X

thread
Creating a recovery disk ---...
Mac OS-X Lion (the latest version of Mac OS) can only be purchased online. I was wondering how to recover the OS in case of a disk failure or disk upgrade which I intend to do. I researched several sites and found you can create a recovery disk right after download your Lion install, but there is nothing about creating one after you already installed.

Then I researched some more and found Lion comes with the recovery disk already built-in. This works fine if you still have the disk. Then I found the way to create a recovery boot disk. You can go to Apple site and download a little software that create a 1GB boot drive on your USB Drive.

Try it. It is very easy.

Web Hosting in Seattle

thread
Web Hosting in Seattle
What would you look for when you are looking for a place to host your web site? Here are some criteria that you can use.

(1) Find reputable hosting company. In addition to PSPINC (us), there are several companies that we can recommend.

(2) Try finding the hosting company that does not do everything online. You can someone to talk to.

(3) If they are local, that is better. The location of data center does not matter so much, but having someone locally will help you if something happens.

(4) Do not use any company (or person) operates from their house or office space being used as a data center. There is a difference and you get what you pay for.

(5) Find out what kind of internet connectivity the vendor offers. It does not take a lot of bandwidth, but you need to look for redundancy.

(6) Ask around, or ask us. We will be happy to help you find the right company even if it is not us.

(7) If your web developer or IT person select the hosting company, ask them why?

Developing a Mobile Website

thread
Developing a Mobile Website
When developing the website for mobile devices such as iPhone and Android, you need to design the site to match the screen size of the device. Unlike PCs, you have a limited screen size and you do not want your users to zooming in and out.

480x320 is a very popular size if your primarily target is the newer smartphones. I recommend using simple HTML and avoid Flash and other multimedia contents. iPhones are not compatible Flash by Adobe.

Also, tablet devices like iPad, iPad2 and Android Pads can display as much as PCs, so having the option to switch between mobile website and regular site is a very good idea.

PSPINC, web site hosting service provides you (developers) with the way to recognize the mobile devices and redirect the user to the specific directory so that you can automatically display regular or mobile version of the website.
