Mac OS-X Lion (the latest version of Mac OS) can only be purchased online. I was wondering how to recover the OS in case of a disk failure or disk upgrade which I intend to do. I researched several sites and found you can create a recovery disk right after download your Lion install, but there is nothing about creating one after you already installed.
Then I researched some more and found Lion comes with the recovery disk already built-in. This works fine if you still have the disk. Then I found the way to create a recovery boot disk. You can go to Apple site and download a little software that create a 1GB boot drive on your USB Drive.

Try it. It is very easy.
