What a nice people Americans are ...

thread
What a nice people Americans...
I see signs in Spanish, Chinese and other languages I do not know in public places. This is not just to accommodate visitors from other countries. Those signs are for people who live here.

I would expect people who live here to read and write English. But that do not seems to be case here. Only in America, people can live without speaking or understanding the language of that country.

Blue Angeles

thread
Blue Angeles
Today was the highlight of the SEAFAIR weekend. Blue Angles gave their performance over lake Washington.

I learned few things today about Blur Angles. The planes that they are using is the oldest naval planes. They are F-18 Hornet A. I thought they would be using newer planes.

There are over 130 people in the Blue Angles team. I did not know that either. They perform over 30 weekends ... The season is longer than Major League Baseball or PGA golf. I did not know that.

Seattle is lucky to have Blue Angeles every year.

It is almost 7 o'clock and the temp. is still 96 degree. It is hot but still 10 degree cooler than yesterday.

ClockLink Impressions

thread
ClockLink Impressions
We have recorded little under 20 million impression of clocks from the ClockLinbk.coma. This is about 25% smaller than what it used to be. We have been concerned about this number but today we found the problem.

We provide clock from ClockLinbk.coma using 4 servers and one of the access counting system was not activated after the incident at our data center. This is the reason why the count is 25% less than what it supposed to be.

It is good to know that we did not loose that many users.

Emergency Stairs

thread
Emergency Stairs
This is not a picture of a slide in the park. It is a picture of external emergency stairs (slide) of small hospital in Japan.

Why is it a slide???

I have no idea. I think it is to slide the people down instead of having them walk down. Have you ever seen this anywhere else?

Is it a good idea?

Tank Less Water Heater

thread
Tank Less Water Heater
Recently, people here in America are given an option to purchase and install tank-less water heater. But most of homes still use water heater with tank. It is still very new in Japan.

In Japan, I have never seen a house with tanked water heater. So, this is a picture from my parents’ home in Japan. They have tank-less water heater. It works great. I would like to have tank-less units in my house. However, we just upgraded our heater and duct this year to better than 95% efficiency one. So, the water heater must wait until next year.

People, People, People, People...
I took this picture this morning at one of the busiest train stations in Japan called Shinagawa. I had an appointment with our clients Kokuyo at 10:00 am. Shinagawa houses many large companies but the most well known is SONY. Their HQ is few minuets walk from this station.
