I am a fan of privatizing any part of government. Private companies tends to do things cheaper and more efficient than the government but sometime they cut corners to make profit. That where government come in. When government do things, there is no one to regulate and oversea but themselves. I don't just that.
We just pass the initiative to privatize liquor distribution the State. Next should be metro and sound transit.
I heard the report that Kim Jong Il is dead. I verified with many news sites but I finally believed it when I see it on wikipedia. Media is not believable any more.
Last three days I spent here in So. California was enlightening to me. This is a big city (cities) and people here are very different from people in Seattle. It is a bigger market than Seattle, needless to say.
Weather is much nicer here than Seattle, but it just way too big. Too many people, too many cars. It is overwhelming. I need to spend time contemplating. Also, this place has very big Japanese community. Much larger than Seattle. For last few days, I don't think I spoke much English here.
I have been here just less than two days now. This city is just too big, too many people and too many cars for me. I can't stand the traffic here. I cannot believe people live here.
I think living in Seattle, I became a country boy (man).
It is becoming clear to many that unlike what power companies are saying, Japan can get by without nuclear power plants. Looks like nuclear power plants are there for power companies to receive more government money. In return power companies are hiring many retired government officials.
It is very hard to find anything that is made in the USA nowadays. People say it is a corporate greed and they do anything to cut cost. But is that all that is? If people here work for less, do they bring those manufacturing jobs back to the US?
Here are thing that I am sure companies considered before moving productions overseas.
(1) Labor cost
(2) Labor Skills and Trainability
(3) Government Regulations and Taxes
(4) Liabilities and Cost of Insurance and Legal Fees
(5) Labor's Willingness to Work
(6) Cost of Transportation for the Goods to be Shipped back to the US
I am sure there are some other things they considered and decoded to bring the production overseas. I am sure if those items are cleared, companies will bring their productions back to the US. The question is CAN WE MEET THOSE REQUIREMENTS? or people rather have no jobs at all.
Unfortunately, we all know the answer.
I stopped going out on Friday early mining for so called Black Friday Sale. It is just crazy. I am not going to stay in line in the cold for hours just to save few dollars. I rather stay at home and buy things online.
I understand the needs for the retailers to bring customer in for the kick off of the holiday sales, but I think it is getting out of hands. I heard the shopper with a pepper spray to buy a cheap XBOX. The scene on the screen looks mad. It is not very civilized at all.
Every year the images of Black Friday makes me sad.
When you need something, you really need something but you know you cannot afford it, what do you do.
(1) Wait and work hard to save enough money to pay for it.
(2) Buy it on a loan but have a solid payment plan.
(3) Buy it and think about payment later.
(4) Buy it and let the others pay for it.
(5) Just steal it.
What are the right answer? If you ask me, (1) is the right answer, Possibly (2) if it is that important. But if you ask politicians, they will say (3) or (4). But they have no guts to steal it.
"OCCUPY SEATTLE" Is this it???

This image shows how it looked like when we started. It is 10:30am. It was dart. It is amazing we got to play 9 holes.
