Another Company

thread
Another Company
I had to go to the bank after the lunch. One of my banks is Bank of America and their branch in downtown Bellevue is this building. The building is called PACCAR Building. I know the name for along time but I never thought this is the world HQ for PACCAR, Inc.

When you think of Seattle, you think of Boeing, Microsoft, Nordstrom … but you never think about PACCAR. I knew PACCAR started here, but I never thought their HQ is still here in Bellevue. WOW.

This is another company that I would love to work with.

Lunch with CEO

thread
Lunch with CEO
I had lunch with Jeff Riley, CEO of Dinerware. Dinerware is a new member of Seattle Executives Association which my company is a member since 2003.

Dinerware develops and distributes Point of Sales (POS) system for restaurants. He told me the company has grown 50% last year. That is amazing. They now have distribution in Canada, Europe and Australia. I will take a look at their system to see if we can help them distribute their system in Japan and Korea.

Breakfast at IKEA.

thread
Breakfast at IKEA.
I went to IKEA this morning. Because I have a dog and I did not want to leave my dog in the car in the sun. IKEA has a covered parking which is cool. The picture shows the food we had a IKEA. The breakfast in the right is only $1.99 … Great deal. I had meatballs, mashed potato and salad for $6.49.

I guess I will use IKEA a lot more as it get hot in Seattle. Does anyone know any restaurant that has a great shaded place to park the car with a dog inside?

Not too good for my diabetes.

thread
Not too good for my diabetes.
I had a Chicken Caesar Wrap at Red Robin last night. I guess the Caesar Wrap was not too bad bat the stake fries weren’t too good for my diabetes. My blood sugar was high this morning. I should not have eaten those fries.

But those fries were sure good. Why is that everything that tastes so good are bad for your health? Anyhow, I guess I will stay away from the fries for a while.

APRIL FOOL?

thread
APRIL FOOL?
Did anyone fool you yesterday? Tell me about it.

I heard on the radio yesterday that there was a foot of snow in Federal Way (Near Seattle-Tacoma Airport) and I almost believed it. Last year we had snow on April 19th. I hope I will see no more snow until later this year.

This is the picture of our office in December 22, 2008.

Up Up Up Up Up Up Up Up Up Up Up ...

thread
Up Up Up Up Up Up Up Up Up...
When the economy goes down, everyone try everything they can to reduce the cost without cutting any services. But there is one industry that increases the price and reduces the service. And when they are told to reduce cost, they cut the service so much that people must say yes to the price hike.

It is government. As of today, the State sales tax is 9.5% and 9.8% at the restaurants. When I came to Seattle, sales tax was 7.3% and that was the highest in the nation. The reason for that was “Because Washington State has no Income Tax”. What about Business and Occupation Tax (B&O Tax)? Why doesn’t the government try to cut cost without reducing the service level? All you had to do is work more, faster and smarter.

I do not smoke, but as of today Federal & State tax on tobacco is over $3 a packet.
