On my business trip to Los Angeles, I rented a Tesla Model Y as my rental car. It was my first time driving a Tesla for an extended period of time. Although there were some hiccups, I was able to return it without any accidents.
The hiccups were:
The car was only charged to 75% when I received it, and I was asked to return it with a 70% charge.
I didn't know how to use the windshield wipers.
I couldn't adjust the angle of the rearview mirror.
I was not sure how to use the cruise control.
When I took my foot off the accelerator, the car slowed down instead of maintaining its speed with cruise control.
I didn't know how to operate the navigation system.
I didn't know how to charge the car and how to pay for it.
I was cut off by other drivers while trying to charge the car at a supercharger station.
I was able to resolve all of these issues except for the cruise control problem mentioned in (5). I'm not sure if this is something that can be fixed or not. Overall, I feel that the Ford Mustang Mach-e is easier to drive than the Tesla.
As for whether to buy a Tesla, I'm not sure. I don't think it's a good idea to have two electric cars in one household.
