スイスとの国境のジュラ山脈にはモン・ドール（黄金の山）という山があり、このチーズはこの山岳地帯の農民によって作られてきた。
秋から冬の期間限定で出荷される季節感のあるチーズだ。
コットンのようなふわふわのカビが生えた蓋をカットして缶詰のように開けると、中からはトロトロのチーズが出てくるのだ。
因みに、カビまで食う奴は変態だ。（と僕は思う）
