Is PSPINC expanding to Californ...
Mayumi Nakamura, president of PSPINC, flew to Long Beach this morning. She will have over 10 meetings in 3 days with several Japanese corporations headquartered in southern California.

I think we are expanding our web hosting business to southern California where there are more than 70,000 Japanese people. Mayumi is planning to visit California every month.

Is this legal?

Is this legal?
Travelex ... You have seen them at airport. They say NO FEE foreign currency exchange. This is a rip off. The current Japanese Yen to US Dollar is about 86 yen to 1 dollar. At this stand they sell Japanese yen at 73.99 yen to a dollar.

They are making 14% or 12 yen profit every time they sell 1 US dollar. Where in that transaction is NO FEE? Is this even legal? Can they do that? How can you claim they charge no FEE?

What part of NO SMOKING don't you get?

thread
What part of NO SMOKING don'...
I took this picture this morning at out side of baggage claim at SEATAC this morning. This area used to be smoking area for the airport but it is not more. However, it is used as a smoking area anyway as you can see on top of the trash bin and the lady smoking sitting down.

I used to smoke so I know how difficult it is not to smoke. I think so long as smoking is legal, we should provide better smoking areas. After all, State received big money from the tobacco companies and smokers. If there is better smoking areas, they might not be smoking in no smoking areas.

Where is DELTA 182 from KIX to SEA?

thread
Where is DELTA 182 from KIX ...
I was at the SEATAC airport waiting for people on DELAT 182. The arrival notice said it is arriving little after 3pm. Originally it was supposed to arrive at 11:30am. I waited until 4:30pm and found out that the flight was cancelled. The online, arrival information and Delta rep. on the phone never said the flight was cancelled. They had no idea where the plane was.

Here is what happened.

(1) Delta 182 took off from KIX and flew about an hour before they found out the 5 out of 6 toilets were out of order. So they decided to go back to Narita.
(2) After spending about 90 minuets, they took off from Narita. I believe it was around 8 pm.
(3) After flying for several hours, all the toilets except one even can turn the light on. So, they decided again to go back to Japan. This time it was too late to go back to Narita. (Narita is not open 24 hours.)
(4) They arrived back to KIX around 5am. That is 12 hours after the flight took off from KIX.
(5) All passengers were taken to Hotel in Osaka.
(6) They are now on their way to Seattle from KIX.

Delta is using aging Boeing 767-300 for this leg of the flight. I hate it. I wish they use better equipments. Also, nobody knew where 182 was. I called the flight information and they told me the plane will arrive at SEATAC at 3:00pm. The arrival information at the SEATAC said 182 arriving just after 3pm. I even checked online and the information was same.

Delta needs to get their act together or they loose customers. I do not want to see any accident caused by lack of maintenance on aged plane.

Seattle Executives Golf Tournament

Seattle Executives Golf Tourna...
Today I attended Seattle Executives Association Golf Tournament. It was really a nice day. Although we shot 9 under par (scramble format), best team shot 4 strokes better than we did.

We did not win but Mayumi got Longest Drive and Nearest to the Pin. I won two ruffle prizes and those were tickets to Boeing Classic Senior PGA event.

I don't understand this...

I don't understand this...
All States, Counties and cities are having budget crisis. They are short of revenue and forced to cut services ... or are they?

There is a small part near out office called Highland Park. There are two baseball fields and little play area. I walk my dog here every morning. It is groomed very nicely. On any weekday, there is always somebody at this park from the city or a private contractor doing something. They put irrigation system earlier this year and new fence around the baseball field. Now they just replaced old lighting system with new ones.

I drove by Bellevue College this morning. Their baseball field does not have night game facility like this little park in Bellevue. Honestly, I have hardly ever seen anybody playing game at night at this park anyway. Why do they need new lighting system?

I rather see one more teacher, policeman or firefighter keep his/her job.

Seattle is not a popular destination.

thread
Seattle is not a popular destina...
Japanese currency exchange rate stands around 85.5 Yen to a US Dollar. This means everything you see in US$ is about 20% off compared to just a year ago. Because of this, flights from Japan to places like Honolulu and Los Angles are booked for next several months. Only two places in the US West Cost Cities of the US that this surge of tourism are not happening are Seattle and Portland.

Why?

It is not a simple answer. But there are several factors that I can think. (1) the immigration processes in Seattle and Portland are slow and very unfriendly compared to Honolulu, LA and SF. (2) Seattle has one of the highest Sales Tax in the US and State does not give any tax break to tourists from Japan. (3) Not much to see and the transportation from Seattle and Portland to any other cities in the US are very limited compared to LAX and SFO. (4) Air Fair between Seattle and Portland to any cities in Japan are higher than one between LAX to Japan. This is because of the competitions. (5) Air planes that fly between Seattle and Portland to Japan are OLD and SMALL.

There are many business travel between Seattle and Portland to Japan, but we should do better in tourism dollars. The State should do something, since many of the problems are government originated issues.

Seattle Downtown

Seattle Downtown
For many outsiders, this is the image of Seattle. The PUBLIC MARKET CENTER and the Space Needle are the icons of the city. I had dentist appointment this morning and I got there little early. I had some time to walk around the block.I took this picture with my cellular phone.

I was too bad this old FORD MINI VAN came right in the picture.
