We suponsored and played at Northwest Minority Supplier Development Council golf tournament at Twin Lakes today. We shot like 8 or 9 under which is not too good for a scramble. I know many teams shot under 60. But somehow we won second place. WOW.

The New Normal for Businesses

thread
The New Normal for Businesses
I read a very interesting article this morning. Yes, I do read sometime called
Is Your Business Ready for The New Normal?

The only thing that you have control as a business is the cost. How do you reduce cost without reducing services that you provide to your customers?

Take a look at your IT cost. How much are you spending on your Computer, Internet, Email and Web? Do you need everything you are paying for? Or you think you need them but you don't. With the advancement in technologies, you have many more options than say two years ago. You might want to spend little time investigating what you have.

Would you buy made in the USA even ...

thread
Would you buy made in the US...

Would you buy "MADE IN THE USA" even if the product is more expensive?

The answer is ... "NO"

Let's not kid ourselves by thinking products made in the USA would sell. It used to be true. Why? Because Made in The USA used to mean "better" products. Unfortunately, many products are not better.

The question should be, "Would you buy products made in the USA when those products are better than anything out there at competitive price?"

It is not up to consumer to decide what to buy, it is up to tghe US companies to produce better products at the competetive prices. Let's make people want to buy MADE IN THE USA. I think we can do that.

Price Comparison Between Japan and US

thread
Price Comparison Between Jap...
From time to time, I will select a product that is available in both US and Japan and compare a price for you based on the current currency exchange.

LEXUS LS 460 Base Model
US Retail $66,000
JP Retail Y7,960,000 = $94,761

The same car costs $28,761 more in the US than it is in Japan. This is 43% more. This is because:

(1) US is the bigger and more competitive market than Japan, so TOYOTA sets base price lower for sale in the US.
(2) Currency exchange rate. TOYOTA may have set the exchange rate to be 120 yen to a US$. At 120 yen, US and Japan pricing would have been the same.

There is a great sales opportunities for the companies in the US to sell their products in Japan.

US$ = JPY Currency Exchange as of August 24, 2010 is 84 Yen to US$1.
