Interesting web design idea

thread
Interesting web design idea
When I was shopping for my chair on the web site, POPUP appeared on the screen asking me if I wanted to speak to sales representative. I was really curious and clocked "yes". Another window opened (pictured) and ask me to enter phone number. When I enter the number, they called me right away.

This is a very interesting feature and it does not require a lot of programming. I will keep this feature in mind when we present a shopping site development.

By the way, the person called me was not a lady on this picture ... His name was Joe ,,, I was disappointed.

Do not upgrade your BackBerry

thread
Do not upgrade your BackBerry
Yesterday, I perform the upgrade of my BlackBerry firmware 4.7 to 5.0. During the upgrade, it lost the connection to the host computer and failed to boot up. After struggling for a while, it came back and the upgrade was done.

But when I started the BB, it lost all data plan including Browser and email. I had to call Verizon to get a technical support. I run *288 option 2 and do the hardware reset by taking the battery out. It was a lot of work and as far as I see there in nothing new. Besides, I lost the ability to view Japanese on the web and email.

What kind of upgrade is this?

If you have BB, do not upgrade to 5.0. If you are thinking of buying BB, iPhone or Android will be a better phone. Sorry RIM (Research in Motion), BB sucks.

Email broadcasting ... Bad example

thread
Email broadcasting ... Bad exa...
I just received an email (campaign broadcast email) using multiple TOs. I have not seen this for a while but I guess there are still some people do this.

What is wrong with this?

(1) I as one of the recipient of this email, I have access to all of the mail address of all other recipients.

(2) This shows that you are not careful about privacy.

(3) Your email server can be listed in backlist as a server that is used to SPAM people.

You should use the service that is design to broadcast email like www.newsmail2u.com. Ask for a demo account if you are not sure.

My camera is back from the repair

thread
My camera is back from the r...
I made a scratch on the lens and it was showing on the picture I was taking. I sent it to Canon repair two weeks ago to get it repaired. It came back today and there was no charge.

They found something wrong with lens assembly and replaced the whole assembly including the lens. It was under warranty. I was expecting to pay over $100 for the repair, instead I got it back for free. I do know if there was something wrong with the assembly but it was nice of Canon to send it back to me for free.

I will recommend Canon if you are in the market for a camera.

Where in the world are we?

thread
Where in the world are we?
Today, I found out some of the Internet sites think we are not in the USA. I connect to Internet through an ISP called Above.net. But when I connect to the net, the IP addresses that we are using are recognized as non US origin.

This has no effect what so ever to the people and companies that we host. It is just people who work at PSPINC. We have open a trouble ticket to Above.net.

Filled up and ready to go.
Our generators passed the final inspection by the city of Bellevue this morning. Cascade Oil (Seattle Executives Association Member) delivered 240 gallons of fuel this afternoon. We are planning to have the generators fired up this Thursday.

This was the final piece of creating a data center at HQ.
