This week

thread
This week
I am planning to organize what I supposed to be doing. Mainly, I need to organize all the R&D projects. We need to develop better quality control and documentations.

I am also concerned about the amount time each project is taking. I need to get better reporting from the development team.

I know everybody is working hard, but working hard does not mean working smart. We need to handle the project better and faster without adding cost.

Blue Angeles

thread
Blue Angeles
Today was the highlight of the SEAFAIR weekend. Blue Angles gave their performance over lake Washington.

I learned few things today about Blur Angles. The planes that they are using is the oldest naval planes. They are F-18 Hornet A. I thought they would be using newer planes.

There are over 130 people in the Blue Angles team. I did not know that either. They perform over 30 weekends ... The season is longer than Major League Baseball or PGA golf. I did not know that.

Seattle is lucky to have Blue Angeles every year.

Last day of July.

thread
Last day of July.
This month started with the fire at Fisher Plaza. This brought us to operation and direction changes. First of all, we are building a micro data center at the PSPINC HQ building. This building will serve as a fail over facility.

Not having the second data center is a good move, because we do not have enough people to take care of two equally valuable data centers. Plus, having better connectivity with the sound hosting facility under our nose is much easier to manage. Plus whatever the money that we use is now a investment in our facility rather than expense.

We are not going to be building another Fisher Plaza like facility ... But that is exactly the point. I call it a micro data center project. It might be about time data center got smaller and more manageable size.

PS: The heat wave had passed and dogs are happy again.

Summer has begun in Seattle

Summer has begun in Seattle
This is a SEAFAIR weekend. The official event of summer is finally here. Blue Angeles are flying, temp. is near 100 again. And there is a report of someone died from the heat today.

It is almost 7 o'clock and the temp. is still 96 degree. It is hot but still 10 degree cooler than yesterday.

I learned today.

thread
SAY WHAT YOU ARE GOING TO DO.
DO WHAT YOU SAID.

Doing things without saying is worse than not doing it at all. In business, one needs to report to people who is responsible.

You need to turn the turning signal on before you make a turn. When you have turn the turning signal on, you must turn.

I learn this today at Seattle Executives Association.

Current temp. out side is 104 Degree or 39.5 Degree Celsius. I have never seen the temp. like this. ACs in the office are working to keep us cool, but the they are not going to maintain 72 degree.

Web site alone is not enough!

thread
Everybody wants new business. To get new businesses for your business, you need to make sure people know about your business. So, you build the web site to attract people. But you soon find that you have attracted very few people to your web site.

So, now you are thinking of Search Engine Optimization or even pay per click advertisement.

First of all, you are not attracting people to your web site because your web site is

(1) Static / Not Changing
(2) No important information (Usually too much)
(3) Not providing any benefit to visitors
(4) not being promoted
(5) Boring

You need to make changes. We recommend

(1) Adding blog to your site
(2) Connecting your site to Social Networking Sites
(3) Simplify your web site by eliminating some of the information.

People do not spend a lot of time reading the contents of your web site. If you need to learn more about this approach to your web site, please contact me.

PS: Congratulations to Ai Miyazato for her first LPGA tour victory. Japan must be going nuts over this.
