現存する最古の鉄骨灯台　『旧和田岬灯台』

須磨海浜公園に移築設置されてる、国の登録有形文化財　『和田岬灯台』　です。

明治４年に、イギリス人リチャード・ヘンリー・ブラトンの指導により、
和田砲台の横に木製で８角形の灯台として建設される。

明治１７年に現在の鉄骨造の灯台に建て替えられる。

昭和３８年に和田岬は埋め立てられて廃灯となる。

しかし明治時代の洋式灯台の歴史を示す貴重な資料として、

現在の須磨海岸に移築・保存されています。
