Change Happens Naturally
It’s not easy to repeatedly do the same thing the same way. When you do, you’ll inevitably cut corners, which will make things messy. Even if you don’t cut corners, the products we consume will gradually decrease as our needs, preferences, and thoughts change. Therefore, continuity alone isn’t enough to create, manufacture, and sell something.
There’s always a need for something new, something different, and something improved. For almost 40 years now, I’ve used personal computers. When the first IBM PCs came out, I thought they were wonderful. But when computers with the 80286 and 80386 appeared, their processing speeds impressed me. But how many people today recognize or even know what the 80386 is?
When the internet first came out, I installed a 1.5Mbps T1 line for $6,000/month, and I remember being impressed with how fast it was. Now, it’d be a gig connection, not mega. That alone is 1,000 times faster. But I’m not sure if I’m getting 1,000 times more work done.
I’ve talked about the evolution of computers before, but these changes evolve in all industries. Not just computers. Yesterday’s leaders aren’t today’s leaders nor are they tomorrow’s. In In times like these, I believe it’s necessary to take on new challenges for survival, regardless of what industry you work in. Especially for small and medium-sized businesses, the ability to take action is their selling point. Don’t be afraid to fail and don’t forget to try new things.
