How important is SDG & Carbon Nutral?

I have been wondering how important SDGs and carbon neutrality are. I am not ignoring the importance of these initiatives, but I question how much it costs to implement them. Additionally, without government leadership in SDGs and carbon neutrality, progress is unlikely. However, many of the measures governments worldwide are pushing are not sustainable.

Change is important, but not all changes constitute progress. For instance, EVs might be good for the environment, but their limited range and charging time prevent some people from owning them. Furthermore, I hear that building EVs has a greater environmental impact than producing ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) cars. Additionally, a lot of electricity is still generated using fossil fuels such as coal. Is that really beneficial?

Regarding the Olympics, why don't athletes have air-conditioned rooms? Why are they eating vegan meals? It seems that SDGs are prioritized over the athletes' comfort. If this is becoming the new normal, I need to rethink how we operate our business.
