PSPINC What's New Newsletter Vol. 121"An Elevator Pitch"

thread
PSPINC What's New Newslette...
Have you heard of an elevator pitch? It’s the idea that if you got into an elevator with an investor, what would you say to try to sell to them? It should be short, concise, but still compelling enough to introduce yourself and showcase your expertise in a way that will convince the other person to invest in you. Like marketing yourself or whatever you’re trying to sell in a short amount of time. But what components do you need to make a good elevator pitch into a great one? You want to sell effectively, but you also want to stand out amongst others who are also trying to sell to this investor.

While every elevator pitch will undoubtedly be different, there are components you want to ensure you include. For example, say you’re trying to sell a specific product. The first and obvious thing you need is the name of that product. Then, informing them about what market category it fits in and who the target customer would be is also an important detail to add.

After that, the investor needs to know why a potential customer would need this product, at least one key benefit, what similar products already exist on the market and what makes it different than everything that's already on the market. While it seems like a lot to fit in a 90-second window, if you know your product well and truly believe in it, it’s easy. Making an elevator pitch go successfully can be tricky, but it relies on making sure you include the most crucial details. The rest is up to you.

Employee Spotlight: Meet Yume

thread
Employee Spotlight: Meet Yume
We pride ourselves on our fantastic sales team and have an amazing and supportive staff. In this series, we will highlight and showcase a number of those friendly faces who are standing by to take your call or email, help with your IT problems, and assist with your online solutions. This time, we’re shining a spotlight on our sales team member, Yume Veliquette.

Meet Yume

Tume Veliquette

Yume is in charge of Sales and Marketing at our San Diego office! We sat down with Yume and asked her a series of questions to get to know her better.

What do you do at PSPINC?
I work in social media marketing and run San Diego Town and Los Angeles Town, which are both local Japanese portal sites. I consult with clients about their websites as well as on social media content and designs.

What does a typical day on the job look like for you?
My day usually includes holding meetings with customers, interviewing and visiting local businesses to write blog content for them, and other marketing tasks. It really depends, honestly.

How did you first learn about PSPINC? What drew you to the position?
I saw a job listing for San Diego Town, and since I have experience building websites for myself, helping small businesses grow online sounded like something I’d like to do.

How long have you been working at PSPINC?
Since December 2020, so it’s only my second year working at PSPINC!

What's your favorite part about working here?
Meeting new people almost every day and helping them grow their business online. Also, I love that I’m able to try new ideas and have such a helpful team.

What’s the most challenging part of your job?
Helping customers build their website from scratch for brand new businesses. It mostly consists of consulting for businesses, but I also love that part of my job.

Before working for PSPINC, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?
I was the owner of a small ballgown boutique in Okinawa, Japan that was imported from the New York and Los Angeles fashion districts.

What have you learned about sales/marketing since working here?
The biggest thing that I’ve learned from our CEO is to serve, not sell. I’ve also learned communication and consulting skills as well as how to maximize my team members’ potential.

What kinds of skills do you think a salesperson needs to succeed?
Listening skills to determine what customers really need and being helpful are essential skills to have in sales.

What is your proudest moment at PSPINC?
I have a customer that came to us for help with social media marketing and their goal was to hire employees through social media. Within the first month of starting that project, we achieved that goal.

Tell us about your family.
I have a husband and a baby boy who just turned one!

What is your favorite movie?
I can’t pick just one, but my favorites include Burlesque, Hairspray, Free Guy, and Guardians of the Galaxy. I like most of the Marvel movies, really.

Where would you want to go on your ideal vacation?
I’d like to go back to Okinawa, which is also my hometown.

What’s your favorite food?
Taco rice, which is Okinawan soul food! It’s just taco ingredients on top of rice, but it tastes so good!

What have you been most passionate about?
I was a color guard in a marching band for seven years and we went to nationals every year. After graduation, I coached at a high school as well as an elementary school.

Anything else you want to mention?
I have a smart house, so my whole house talks.

We hope you enjoyed getting to know Yume today! If you’re a business in the San Diego or Los Angeles area that wants to grow their business online, don’t hesitate to call Yume at 619-806-7242. She and her team are the experts dedicated to helping you!

Tips for creating a successful contact form for your business website

thread
Tips for creating a successful...
Contact forms are an important part of any business website. While many company’s use their online presence to provide information to the customer, the contact form turns the tables. It allows the customer to talk directly to the business owner.

With a contact form, you can gather customer feedback, valuable leads, and curate contacts for your email marketing efforts (we have a powerful service for that). All of which are geared towards making your business better and generate more sales - do I have your attention?

Fields you should include with your contact form

  • Name - Okay this one is probably a bit obvious, but you will want to know who you are speaking with when you receive an inquiry. This field should be a required field to submit.

  • Email Address - Having a way to contact a customer is important. If a website visitor contacts you via your contact form, odds are they are comfortable with email communication. Also, nowadays, more people are likely to give you an email address rather than a phone number. You should make this a required field as well and make sure you have validation set up to only accept valid email addresses.

  • Message - They are contacting you for a reason right? A simple text box is enough to allow them to add as many or as few details as they want. Luckily you also made the email address required so you will have a way to follow up with them again if you require any further details. It is debatable whether you should make this field required. Ultimately you have already collected their contact information with the above two fields. So you already have the means to contact them if you need them to elaborate.

  • It’s important to note that form fields could greatly vary based on your business and the information you need to successfully serve your customers. The above may seem like a small number of fields to include in your form, but below we will provide some tips and reasons why this is an important consideration.

More tips for a successful contact form

    Less is more
The more form fields you include, the more work you make for a user to get in touch with you. It also creates more opportunities for them to abandon the process and for you to lose out on potential leads.

Keep your form simple so your visitor can fill it out in a minute or two. It is much easier to follow up for more details once you have collected their contact information.

    Validate your form fields
Make sure required fields are required, make sure emails validate as actual email addresses, if you have a character limit, make sure your form observes those. Proper validation will help you filter out the junk. Speaking of junk...

    Have spam prevention measures
With some forms there are ‘behind the scenes’ measures to prevent spam, others use a reCaptcha service, and some have skill-testing questions that spambots cannot get around. Having a feature like this at the end of your form will help you avoid useless and often inappropriate spam emails.

Have a useful thank you page
Once a user submits a form, make sure you send them to a thank you page or replace the form with a message letting them know you will follow up (if that is expected based on the purpose of the form). Users want to be reassured that their submission made it to you and feel confident that they will get a follow-up. Especially if the nature of the request is urgent.

    Test your form
There is nothing worse than having a contact form that doesn’t work, especially if you don’t know it doesn’t work. You don’t want to miss out on valuable leads and customer submissions so make sure you test your form once in a while. Just for that added peace of mind that everything is working.

How to build your contact form

So you know what you need, now how do you do it? Many Web Developers can build a custom form for you, and content management systems often have plugins built in to help with that.

At PSPINC we offer an online form builder tool called InforMakers. You can build a form without knowing how to write a single line of code. It is all done in an easy-to-use visual interface. You can then generate an embed code and paste it directly on your website.

You can purchase an InforMakers subscription online or get it completely free when you host your website with us on Dreamersi!

If you have any questions please contact us at contact@pspinc.com or call us toll-free at 1-800-232-3989

Automation Tools for Sales and Marketing

thread
Automation Tools for Sales an...
When you consider your marketing or sales process, where do you see the cracks? Is there room for improvement? Do you need to boost productivity in any particular area? Could you fill the gap with an automated experience to improve the customer experience?

If you answered yes, let’s nail down the type of tool(s) you should consider:

Marketing Automation:

Marketing is different from sales. And that’s the first thing you need to decipher when looking at automation tools – is it for marketing or sales. If it’s for marketing, it should produce another way for potential customers to hear about you and your story. Here’s what you might consider:

• Newsletter system for solicitation and subscriptions, which can also be customized/personalized
• Automatic thank you notes to subscribers and new inquiries
• Automatic follow-up emails
• CRM tools to track new inquiries and store into database as leads
• Tracking analytics tools to understand user behaviors online and better understand potential customers

Sales Automation:

When customers are in touch with the sales team, you want to give them the very best experience but that can be tricky. Salespeople are human and humans are the most unpredictable elements in our society. Automation tools can close any inconsistencies and help your best salesperson be more efficient in making the deal. Here’s more tools you might consider:

• Sales demonstration videos
• Automated follow-up emails
• CRM integration and reminders for leads
• Integrated sales calls
• Automated outbound emails

Some of your business processes can’t be automated because you may want to ensure different results, and that’s just fine. You know what’s best for your business, but now you have some ideas to research if you think automation can help any areas where business is slipping.
