本日は実に青空を見ることがました。
嬉しくなって日の明るいうちに散歩。
今までの世界とは違い、どこもかしこも輝いて見えます！
ところで聖書時代のユダヤ人は目に映るものに対して真逆の発想を持っていました。
明るく見えるのは、体の中に明かりがあり、その明かりを目から放って物事を照射して明るく見えると言うのです。
つまりウルトラマンやマジンガーZが放つ、目からのビームのようなものが人間の目から出ていると考えたのです。
当時は生物学や解剖学がまだ未発達の段階で古代人の制限制約された科学的知見からのものでした。
主イエスはそのような一般理解のある中で、次のように話されています。
"からだの明かりは目です。
ですから、あなたの目が健やかなら全身が明るくなりますが、
目が悪ければ全身が暗くなります。
ですから、もしあなたのうちにある光が闇なら、
その闇はどれほどでしょうか。"
マタイの福音書 6章22～23節
長い間この聖書箇所が謎でした。
ユダヤ的視座を知って、ようやく謎が氷解されて行きます。
物事を正しく見る(認識する)には、
あなた自身のうちに確かな真理(光)がなくてはならない。
正確な物差しがなければ、対象物がどのような長さかを測ることができません。
古代ユダヤでは目について現代の解剖学や生物学の教えるところと真似逆の考えを抱いていたのです。
目は、はフラッシュライトのようなもので、あなたの目が光を放ち、その光で物事を判断すると言うものです。
最近始めたオンラインでのユダヤ的洞察での聖書クラスで学んだことです。
このクラスで、次のような英語の格言も紹介されてました。
It is your attitude(態度)、not your aptitude(才能)、that determines your altitude(高度).
Today I saw a really blue sky.
I went for a walk in the light of day, happy.
Unlike the world in my state so far, everywhere looks brilliant!
The Jews of biblical times, by the way, had the exact opposite idea of what they saw.
They said that what appears to be brighter is that there is a light inside the body, and that the light is emitted from the eyes to illuminate things.
In other words, they thought it was like the beams from the eyes that Ultraman and Mazinger Z , they are my hero in Japanese animation, coming from the human eye.
This was from the limited scientific knowledge of the ancients at a time when and anatomy and biology were still in their infancy.
In the midst of such a general understanding, the Lord Jesus spoke as follows.
"The light of the body is the eye.
Therefore, if your eyes are healthy, your whole body will be brightened, but
If your eyes are bad, your whole body will be dark.
So if the light in you is darkness
How much more so will that darkness be?"
Matthew 6:22-23
For a long time this Bible verse was a mystery to me.
With the discovery of the Jewish perspective, the mystery is finally cleared away.
To see (or perceive) things correctly,
There must be a certain truth (light) within yourself.
Without an accurate measure, you cannot measure what length an object is.
The ancient Jews thought about the eye in a way opposite to what modern anatomy and biology teaches.
The eyes are like a flashing light; they say your eyes give off light and you judge things by that light.
This is something I learned in a Bible class I recently started online at Jewish Insights.
In this class, the following English proverb was also introduced:
“It is your attitude, not your aptitude, that determines your altitude.”
