春に戻ったように寒くなりました

シアトルはここ数日間、夏から春に逆戻りです。
日陰では長袖がないと肌寒く感じます。

しかし確実に夏へと向かっています。
日没時間が既に午後9時を超えました。

午後4時半を過ぎたら真っ暗な帳が降りていた冬とは
かなり違う世界です。

私の身近な世界にも多くの進歩が見られます。

断裂したアキレス腱もかなりつながっているようで
今週からは体重の半分ほどのウェイトを足にかけて歩くことができます。まだ松葉杖や膝スクーターは欠かせませんが。

この日、18歳の誕生日を迎えた翌日のカイを
Akemiたちがハイキングへ連れて行きました。
これも誕生日ギフトの一環です。

18年前に彼が生まれた日、明美はカイを膝の上に乗せて頭を優しく撫でてあげるだけでした。
今や夕食まで用意する母親のような役目をしてくれています。

いつも私たちは集まるといろはカルタをします。
今日からは聖書物語カルタを始めました。

Seattle has gone back to spring from summer for the past few days.
In the shade, it feels chilly without long sleeves.

But it's definitely heading toward summer.
Sunset time has already passed 9 p.m.

It's a very different world from winter, when the darkness descended after 4:30 p.m.

There is a lot of progress in my immediate world.

My torn Achilles tendon seems to be connecting quite well.
Starting this week, I can walk with about half my body weight on my legs. I still need crutches and a knee scooter, though.

Akemi and Eric took Kai hiking the day after his 18th birthday.
This was also part of his birthday gift.

Eighteen years ago, on the day he was born, Akemi would just put Kai on her lap and gently pat his head.
Now she acts like a mother, even preparing dinner for us.

Whenever we get together, we play Iroha Karuta.
Today we started playing Bible story karuta.
