I have uninstalled Microsoft Office 2008 from my iMac. Not that I did not like the Office, I did this so that I can give this version to new Mac user in our office.
She needs Office ... I can live with iWORK which I purchased with the new OS Snow Leopard.
As a part of building a new datacenter at PSPINC HQ building, we are bring in a new fiber optic line. Well, it turned out to be a big project. They have drilled the street in front of our building. Now they are ding something at 140th which is a major street near by. I heard they are closing 14th street this weekend too.
We really did not know it was such a big deal. We really are sorry about all the constructions going on.
Today my Entourage (Microsoft's email software for Mac OS-X) crashed several times. This was really a first time it happened but I upgraded the Mac OS to the latest Snow Leopard.
If this problem continues, I may have to stop using Microsoft Entourage. PSPINC is now building a brand new web mail software. I am really looking forward for that.
Bringing the fiber to PPSINC across the street is getting to be very noisy. There is a machine drilling from the both side. It will meet somewhere in the middle I guess.
In order to provide better service PSPINC is adding one more fiber optic line to our HQ facility where the second (alternate) data center is being built.
This is the picture I took this morning ... It is laud.
It is funny to see Apple making fun of Windows 7. I hope Microsoft will not take it personally. But I ma sure they will. Windows still owns 95% of the market.
This series is one of the best commercials I think I have ever seen. They are funny.
This is what the server room looks like as of today. I don't see any update from yesterday. The construction is very slow. Can we really open this by the end of next month?
I have been using Maxtor 500GB external hard disk drive for may backup since May 2008. Lately, the fan on this drive started make noise and was getting worse. So, I asked my company's support team to replace the fan.
We have opened the unit and found the fan just needed some lubrication. They took care of that. Then they ask me if I wanted to upgrade 500MB drive to 1TB drive. They had 4 1TB drives in stock. I said "Yes". and now I have 1TB external drive that is faster and quieter than before.
It took less than 1/2 hour for all this. If you have an external hard disk unit that is more than a year old, I recommend you swap your drive to bigger and better drive. It is one of the cheapest upgrades you can do to your computer.
We are bringing in another fiber optic line into our HQ to make it redundant. This is a part of the effort to build secondary data center at our HQ facility.
