No more Firefox

thread
No more Firefox
At PSPINC, we have banned the use of Firefox browser. We now asked everyone in Research and Development and Web Design to use Internet Explorer as their browser. There are people who hate this change. But it was necessary when some of the products that we have developed worked fine on Firefox and not on IE.

Firefox might be more flexible, but we must consider the market size of the browsers. So we have decided to ban the use of Firefox and asked everyone to uninstall it from the computer.

Now everyone is using IE except me.

No, I am not using Firefox. I uninstalled it from my Mac. There is no IE for Mac, so I am now using Safari. It is not too bad. It actually works very much like Firefox. Now, there is no more excuse saying, “It worked on Firefox.”

Its time spend another $129 ... again

thread
Its time spend another $129 ......
The new version of Macintosh OS X (10.6) Snow Leopard is coming this September. Unlike Microsoft, Apple upgrades their OS every year and have us all pay for it. There is no upgrade price either.

I wish they just make the upgrade available for free or cheaper price to current users.

Good Deal on Macintosh

thread
Good Deal on Macintosh
Mac is expensive ... I hear that a lot. And I think if you are just looking at the cost of hardware and OS, it is true. But as for a total cost of ownership, I don't think Mac is any more expensive than PCs.

Once in a while, you see some good price in the Mac hardware. I found one today. $599 for the prev. version MacBook (Black). It only has 1GB of memory and 80GB of hard disk, but you can upgrade them if you want.

Make sure you buy "Apple Care" when you buy any Mac. It covers your Mac for three years. PSPINC or I make not money ... It is just a recommendation.

YouTUBE and Business

thread
YouTUBE and Business
YouTUBE provides a way for anyone to upload video and embed in your web page or blog. It is a great tool until you start using it to promote your business or products.

When you display the promotion video using YouTUBE, at the end of the video the display screen will look like image above. This case, this video was to promote the golf swing training aid. At the end of this video, YouTUBE is showing other video related to the video you just show. That means, YouTUBE might show the product or business that is competing you.

It is a good idea to use YouTUBE to display your promo video, but you should never embed YouTUBE in your web or blog. For that reason PSPINC created Web de Video. It is a free video streaming system like YouTUBE, except it has no commercial to other sites. Try it for free.

Apple's 1 Button Mouse

thread
Apple's 1 Button Mouse
Many PC users tell me that they do not like Macintosh because it comes with 1 button mouse. I thought so when I started using Mac two years ago. But I came to realize very quickly, you could use standard PC 2 button mouse with Mac. It works just like a PC. Also, you can hold down Control key when you click on the mouse, it will make the 1 button mouse act like right click.

Although it is true that 2 button mouse is better than 1, I guess Apple wants to make sure they are different from PC. It is much like Porsche keeps it 911’s engine in the rear of the car. They want to keep their identity and I respect that.

iMac is here!
Some of you know that I am a Macintosh user. I use Macintosh because it does everything I need to do easier than PC / Windows. I use Microsoft Office on My Mac.

I purchase 24" iMac and it was delivered today. I transfer all application and data from the backup made bay Time Machine. It took only 45 minuets from the time I took the iMac out of the box to the current state. That was really quick.
