Cyber Marketing

thread
Cyber marketing. I have been spending last few weeks exploring what “Linked In” can do, or I should say what I do in Linked In. first of, I needed to join groups and participate in discussions. It is not easy. You so not want to SPAM people. So, I stayed away from creating a discussion. Instead, I focus on responding to some of the discussions. I try not to sell anything, but it is hard.

Like real networking, if you are quiet, nothing will come to you. You must be active in updating your profile, making sure you enter what you are working on and actively searching for people to link to. You also want to join groups. I have joined, “eMarketing Association Network”, “Golf Executive Club”, “Hosting Industry”,” Linked:Seattle”,” Seattle Executives Association”,” SMB Technology Network, ” Software as a Service (SaaS) Group”, ” Washington Technology Industry Association (WTIA)” and ” Web Standards Design + Development” groups within Linked In.

Now I must spend time to check each group and read discussions and reply to relevant postings. That is in addition to my personal blogs in English and Japanese. I am spending a lot of time in front of computer. But I am starting to realize that there is a real business potential in cyber space. Many of the sites are free but you need to account for time you spent. When you start generating leads from your participation in Linked In and other sites, you may need someone full time to just do that.

I never thought about cyber marketing can be a business by it self, but it is real. I seriously need to think about this … and act very quickly.

Bloguru Buddy Requests

thread
I thank you for the request to be your Bloguru Buddy. I will accept any request to buddy up with me. I really like to communicate with you.

However, I have a small favor to ask you. Those of you who embed the music in your Bloguru page, I would like you make it so that the music does not play automatically. I access Bloguru from my office and I do not want people to think I am playing.

Thank you.

Hello Mr. President

thread
Hello Mr. President

The White House has a blog.
Did you know that?
The president of the greatest nation on this planet has a blog.

The White House website enables you to write a comment.
I am sure whatever you write will not be read by Mr. President himself, but that is not a point. The point is, if there is place for anyone to write a comment to the President of the country, do your web site allows your customers to write to you?

When the president of the US has a blog, do you?
Whey not?
You don’t have time… Yeah right, can you afford not to have a blog?
I am not really impressed by the new administration for its handling of money, but I can tell you, they did a great job making www.whitehouse.gov web site. We should all learn from it.

Oh, the screen above is what you see when you send a comment. You should try. I will post something when I receive any response back.

AIG popularity down, stock market up!

thread
AIG popularity down, stock ma...

I received this picture from our company associate in Bonaire. He told me that he got sunburned on Saturday working on his yard. Compare to that, we had snow again this weekend. It is raining again today in Seattle.

I was listening to the radio on the way to work and heard people are outraged about AGI planning to give 165 million dollars in bonus after receiving 170 billion dollars from the US government. It is only 1/10 of a percent, but the act of using tax to payoff the very people who created this problem does not go well with public.

But, as I looked at the stock market today, it is going up. Why is that?

I believe now people are so outraged, the government will not be able to issue any more aids to other financial institutions and automakers. That will ensure the bankruptcy and dissolution of those companies. That seems like a bad news, but the very fact that market is reacting in the opposite direct shows people do not want government intervention any more. Let the failed companies fail and let successful companies succeed. The message is clear … but it is a strong and hard message for some politicians and corporate executives.

It snowed again.

thread
It snowed again.

It snowed again in Seattle. It is already mid. March. I played golf yesterday in rain, but it was not too bad. I was not expecting the snow this morning.

I was watching the news this morning. I heard AIG is giving 160 million dollars in bonuses. Tax filing is coming soon, and some of the taxes that I am paying will be used to pay executives of AIG. I hope they appreciate.

Did you know you can set URL on BLOGURU

    thread
Did you know you can set URL...
When you open a blog, do you know you can set your own URL?

    My Bloguru URL is www.bloguru.com/ken

To set URL, you need to go to your Bloguru administrator page, and select “URL Setting”. You will see a screen like above. You just type in the name you wish to call. My case I typed in “ken”. You can enter any name (no space or symbols allowed). You can change your URL any time you wish. Once URL is set, it should be the address you should use to address your blog. It is much easier than the number Bloguru automatically assign you when you open an account.

    New Bolggers are coming!
I just finished helping DWS Recruiting

    www.bloguru.com/dwsrecruiting

PSPINC is encouraging its corporate clients to utilize blog in general. If they so happen to choose Bloguru, we can do more. Because of that many traditional Bloguru users may feel invaded by old folks like me. Believe me that is not our intention. We old folks need to learn things from younger people. We need to understand how we can communicate with you, so that we can work with you better, produce the products and services better.

So, please help us encouraging companies willing stick their necks out in the world of blog. They may say things that are not right or out of place, please work with them. Help them understand why. You are the GURUs in Bloguru. Thank you for your support. If you have time, please post a comment on their blog. I am sure they have never communicated with someone virtually before. Be nice to them.

Thank you for your support. And thank you for supporting 100% commercial free blog.
