What is Social Listening?

thread
What is Social Listening?
With marketing, monitoring people's responses is just as important as creating content.
it is just as important to create content as it is to monitor people’s responses. Without knowing how your audience feels about your content, the harder it will be to create engaging and relatable content. That’s where social listening comes in.

Social listening refers to monitoring social media channels for your brand mentions, competitor brand mentions, and related keywords. With social listening, you’ll get more valuable insight into how customers feel about your brand and your products, their pain points, areas of improvement, and future expectations.

How to Build Your Social Listening Strategy

newyork search on tiktok
It’s easy to say you’ll monitor your social media channels and stay up-to-date on what else is going on in your industry, but building an effective social listening strategy includes more actionable steps. When building your strategy, it’s best to keep these in mind:
  • Know your customer persona: know who you’re trying to attract and what platforms they use.
  • Identify pain points: discovering what problems and gaps exist in your products and overall industry will help better address and potentially solve those frustrations in the future.
  • Choose strategic and relevant keywords to monitor: creating a list of keywords to look for that are relevant to your company and industry will help narrow down what to look for and streamline your social listening tasks overall.
  • Create guidelines on how to engage: whether it’s a negative review or a positive comment, having a template on how to respond will simplify this task in the future.

Benefits of Social Listening

commenting on instagram post

There are so many tasks involved in marketing for a business that it may feel overwhelming to tack one more to the list, but social listening will give you more insight into your customers and how to improve your current marketing efforts. Some benefits of social listening include:
  • Understand your audience: get valuable feedback on what your audience likes and what other interests they have that could help inform your future marketing campaigns.
  • Performance insight: learn more about how customers feel about your brand and where you could improve in the future.
  • Crisis management: in cases of growing criticisms about your business and/or products, you can start seeing the signs early on, preventing it from turning into a fully-fledged crisis.
  • Increased opportunities: monitoring social conversations around your industry will identify industry trends, influencers, and people who already love your brand and love telling people about their experiences, i.e. your brand advocates.
  • Customer acquisition: join the conversation your audience is having, but don’t outwardly sell; instead, develop relationships with potential customers by sharing helpful information and slowly nurture those relationships into leads.

Marketing today is about much more than just trying to outwardly sell for your business; it's about developing relationships with your customers and nurturing them into leads.
Social listening is an invaluable part of that process, and it will make your overall marketing efforts much easier moving forward. For more marketing help for your business, reach out to our expert marketing team and get started with one of our budget-friendly marketing plans.

What’s New Newsletter Vol. 215 “Google Analytics Update”

thread
What’s New News...
Last week, we received an email from Google Analytics, reminding us all about how they will be fully replacing Universal Analytics (UA) properties with Google Analytics 4 (GA4) on July 1. As a website owner, many of us know that using Google Analytics is vital in measuring how your website is performing. But if you haven’t switched your properties over to GA4 yet, you’re at risk of essentially starting over with new GA4 properties.

We recommend you switch over as soon as possible to build up website data so that when Google Analytics discontinues UA properties, you’ll still have some website data left. Plus, switching early gives you some time to learn the new GA4 system, if you haven’t already. If you’re not sure how to migrate your properties to GA4, reach out to our expert support team! Either call them at 1-800-232-3989 or email them at support@pspinc.com.

Dreamersi: Log Server OS Upgrade Announcement

thread
Dreamersi: Log Server OS Up...
We’re happy to announce that we’re upgrading our operating system (OS) for Dreamersi's log server for its web service. We’re upgrading our OS from Cent OS7 to Alma Linux 8 since there will no longer be technical support for Cent OS7 after June 30, 2024, in a continued effort to strive towards making sure our hosting service is the safest it can be. With this new upgrade, it will help patch any vulnerabilities to defend users against cyber threats and also support new encryption protocols.

However, updating the OS will result in about five minutes of downtime. You may see an error message when trying to download the access logs during this time, so we thought you should know ahead of time. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

This server upgrade will occur on:

*USA Pacific Daylight Time
- March 21 (Thursday) 11:00-11:30am

*Japan Time
- March 22 (Friday) 3:00-3:30am

If you have any questions, please contact us at 1-800-232-3989 (preferred) or email us at support@pspinc.com.

Employee Spotlight: Meet Andres

thread
Employee Spotlight: Meet Andres
At PSPINC, we pride ourselves on offering our customers the best customer support. This is thanks to our amazing support staff. In this series, we will highlight and showcase a number of those friendly faces who are standing by to take your call or email, help with your IT problems, and assist with your online solutions.

Meet Andres

andres

Andres is one of our Support Technicians on our support team. We sat down with Andres and asked him some questions to get to know him better!

How long have you been working at PSPINC?

I’ve been working at PSPINC for four years.

What do you do at PSPINC?

I am a senior IT engineer and provide managed IT services to 15 companies in the Bellevue, Seattle, and Tacoma areas.

What does a typical day on the job look like for you?

I take care of a few customer support requests in the morning. Then, I usually head out to perform IT maintenance onsite for a customer for a few hours before returning to PSPINC to work on any of our current IT projects.

What’s your favorite part about working here?

I really like the team of people that I work with. All of them are nice, helpful, and very professional.

What’s the most challenging part of your job?

Balancing the tasks of providing great support to end users and working on complicated projects at the same time is the most challenging part for me.

Before working for PSPINC, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?

I designed and ran a 300.00-watt Bitcoin-mining facility in South America for two years before working here.

What have you learned while working here?

To rely on my team and to use my coworker’s knowledge on projects.

What skills do you think a tech support member needs to succeed?

IT changes constantly, so it’s important to have curiosity and the desire to research, while also being open to learning new things every day.

What has been your favorite project at PSPINC?

We did a complete network and server build for a new soy sauce factory in the area, and it was interesting to work alongside the construction crew of an industrial facility.

Why did you choose to pursue a career in IT?

IT has been in my life since I was a kid. It’s my passion, so it’s never really been a choice for me. I started to get IT requests and projects from everyone around me starting at 16 years old, and it has just never stopped.

What do you like to do for fun outside of work?

I like playing video games, watching some anime, watching movies, and going out with friends.

What is your favorite movie?

Probably a draw between Amélie, The Shawshank Redemption, and The Empire Strikes Back.

What’s your favorite food?

Chinese dim sum.

Where would you want to go on your ideal vacation?

My ideal vacation is a Caribbean cruise with family or friends.

We hope you enjoyed getting to know Andres today! If you’re a business in the Greater Seattle area that needs any remote or onsite technical support, don’t hesitate to contact our support team by calling 1-800-232-3989 or emailing them at support@pspinc.com. Andres and his team are the experts dedicated to helping you!

What’s New Newsletter Vol. 208 “Why Business Cards Are Still Relevant Today”

thread
What’s New News...
As important as having a digital presence for your business is, business cards are still relevant today. They’re an essential networking tool, which helps connect businesses, especially small businesses, to potential customers, partners, and/or employers. They convey professionalism and it is much more impressive to pull a business card out rather than verbally telling a potential lead your contact information.

Business cards also make it easy to market yourself and/or your business quickly but efficiently. You can easily slip it to someone in passing and it can serve as a physical reminder for people to check out your website or reach out to you later at a more convenient time. That’s why, along with our other brand and graphic design services like logo or custom web design, PSPINC offers business card design services. Get started by heading over to our Brand & Graphic Design page.

What’s New Newsletter Vol. 189 “Physical Menu Designs”

thread
What’s New News...
You may know that we help design digital menus with ImaMenu, but did you know we also design and redesign physical menus for small businesses, too? We recently helped Ichiban PB, a Japanese restaurant in San Diego, redesign their menu. Two weeks ago, our San Diego team headed over to visit and see the menus in person.

While they were there, the server told them how much the new menus helped since our team added photos and descriptions to their menu items. Not only is it easier for customers to understand now, but it also makes it easier for servers since they no longer have to explain what each item is. So, if you’re looking to design or redesign your physical menus, reach out to our design team to get started!

The Importance of Prioritizing Customer Experiences

thread
The Importance of Prioritizing ...
Marketing professionals have always known giving customers the best experience possible is important, and that it refers to the entire customer journey rather than ending after making the purchase. Delivering great experiences has only become that much more important. Businesses have the opportunity to maintain and strengthen relationships with customers at every step of the customer journey by building trust.

Building strong relationships between your business and your customers starts with creating exceptional customer experiences. And with so much of our interactions with brands online, customer experiences can make or break a business. According to a report from Salesforce, 79% of customers agree that the experience is just as important as the product or service a company sells. So, prioritizing customer experiences is a necessity today to stand out amongst competitors.

How to Prioritize Customer Experiences

cheerful young waitress communicating to customers

While it’s easy to say how important prioritizing customer experiences is, it’s another to put that into action. A few ways you can do that include:

Exceed expectations

When you give customers what they expect, it’ll satisfy them. It’s when things unexpectedly go wrong when they aren’t happy. But if you can give them more than they expect like adding a welcome gift, thank you card, or even just standout customer service, they’ll be thrilled. When people feel the love, they’ll return the favor by coming back for their next purchase or even recommending your brand to others.

Ask for, listen to, and act on feedback

We’ve explained before why asking for customer feedback is important, and doing so in the form of reviews or some kind of rating system makes it easy. But just asking for feedback means nothing if you don’t do anything about it.

People want to feel heard, and reviews and ratings hold a lot of weight on your business because of how heavily potential customers rely on them. From a business perspective, it’s also important to constantly try to improve your business. With these ratings and reviews being directly about your product, this is the easiest way to do so.

Reward loyalty

There’s a reason loyalty programs work: they build trust and increase customer retention. But there’s an easy way to reward customers’ loyalty as opposed to building a whole program around it. You can reward people with small things like reposting user-generated content with a thank you attached or offering exclusive discounts to show your appreciation.

Benefits of Prioritizing Customer Experiences

a woman in brown apron talking to customer with newspaper open

Prioritizing customer experiences doesn’t just build trust between your business and your customers, but it is also much more cost-effective and less time-consuming compared to trying to obtain new customers. It also results in happier customers, which will result in good customer reviews. And if they really like their experience, it’s possible they’ll become brand advocates, where they’ll market for you by recommending your business to their friends, families, and/or online followers.

So, it’s clear that businesses shouldn’t just consider customers’ experiences, but they should make it a vital part of their marketing strategy. It’s often an overlooked part of the process, but it pays off in the end to make it the best it can be. The reality is that customers are constantly interacting with the brand, even if it isn’t directly with your customer support people. They’re scrolling past ads on social media, watching an influencer promote a product on YouTube, or checking out your Instagram page. So, use that to your advantage by making sure every interaction your business has with customers will keep them coming back.
