学名：Sarcandra glabra (Thunb.) Nakai
センリョウ（千両）；センリョウ... センリョウ（千両）；センリョウ属
マンリョウ（万両）と同様に縁起がよい庭木として親しまれ、
山中の林内で栽培されている。常緑小低木、高さ50～150cm。
東海地方、紀伊半島、四国、九州及び沖縄に分布する常緑小低木。
葉は対生、楕円形または卵状披針形、革質で縁に鋭鋸歯があり先が尖る。
葉柄の基部は茎を抱く。茎頂に小さな黄緑色の花を穂状に多数つける。
花には花弁、萼がない。雄蕊は1個、円柱形。葯は2個、側部につく。
半葯は葯隔より短い。果実は核果、球形、赤色、まれに黄色。
核は1個入り、球形。花期は6～7月。果期は8～12月。
お金にちなんだ縁起の良い名前から、正月飾りに使われることもある。
